Adding to its record number of controversies, a resident of Maharashtra tied his Ola Electric S1 electric scooter to a donkey and continued to parade it around the city with several banners warning others not to buy any Ola Electric product.
What Exactly Happened?

According to reports, the scooter had stopped working merely six days after it was delivered on March 24, 2022.
Mr. Sachin Gitte (owner of the scooter) then contacted the manufacturer seeking help, but no resolution was provided even after repeated calls to the customer care.
Ultimately, Gitte took matters into his own hands and tied his Ola S1 scooter to a donkey, parading it around town. The protest was accompanied by posters and banners which read “Beware of this fraudulent company” and “Do not buy two-wheelers of Ola Company”.
Not only this, reports suggest that Sachin went on to knock on the doors of the Consumer Forum, explaining the issue and suggesting the government take necessary actions against the Indian EV giant.

To jog your memory, till now, there have been all kinds of complaints about the Ola S1 including a sudden drop in power, overheating, automatic reverse gear, and the most dangerous of all, its battery pack catching fire.
Owing to these bits, Ola recently announced that it’ll be recalling 1,441 electric scooters. These scooters will undergo proper tests and diagnostics to ensure there are no issues once they go back to their customers.

Coming to the scooter, the Ola S1 retails at Rs 99,999 and goes up to Rs 1,29,999, depending on the variant. (both prices ex-showroom Delhi)
For the money, the scooter offers several hi-tech features such as TFT instrumentation, keyless ignition, smartphone connectivity, and reverse gear, to name a few. Plus, you also get a meaty 8.5kW motor coupled with either a 2.98kWh or a 3.97kWh battery, both class-leading figures.
