With the Octavia vRS, Skoda created its arena of a powerful and thrilling-to-drive sports sedan in the sub-Rs 50 lakh space and is ruling it unanimously even now. In all these years, the Skoda Octavia vRS has gained a cult status like no other car below the Rs 50 lakh mark among the car enthusiasts, who find the more expensive sports cars too pricey or impractical for the Indian conditions.

While the Skoda Octavia vRS came to India in multiple iterations, it is the third-generation model, which became immensely popular in both versions – vRS 230 and vRS 245, which came afterwards. The standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine here gets a bigger turbocharger from Garrett. Also, the car gets a new intercooler, a new turbo muffler delete and a new turbo inlet pipe from ‘Integrated Engineering’. The car runs on Stage 3 ECU and TCU tuned from Hyderabad-based ETuners India.
While the car does with a stock air intake, there is a new air filter. The car also gets a high-pressure fuel pump from AutoTech, ensuring a higher and more reliable performance. For the exhaust system, the car features a 3-inch downpipe from Milltek and a full-system exhaust from IAS Performance.

However, the star highlight of this whole car is an imported all-wheel-drive system from Haldex, which makes it possibly the only Octavia vRS in the world to have an all-wheel-drive system. The folks at ‘The Mechanix Automotive’ have refrained from disclosing the processes and alterations followed to accommodate this all-wheel-drive system.

Matching the bad-ass changes under the hood are the subtle tweaks carried out on the exterior. This Skoda Octavia vRS 245 is finished in a shade of black and gets blacked-out treatment all over. Other visual changes in the car include outside rearview mirrors and rear diffuser finished in carbon fibre and 18-inch 10-spoke silver alloy wheels from BBS.

In its stock guise, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine of the Skoda Octavia vRS 245 produces 245 bhp of power. Before the Stage 3 tune of the current version, the Skoda Octavia vRS also went through Stage 2 tuning, in which the power output got bumped to 350 bhp. In this Stage 3 tune, the power output increased to a whopping 420 bhp, making it one of the most powerful Octavia vRS in India. This car can cover 0-100 kmph sprint in less than 4.5 seconds.
