While the list is largely dominated by Indian giants, there’s a Japanese motorcycle worth considering as well
With petrol prices at an all-time high, commuter motorcycles are arguably the easiest means of to-fro, owing to their low running costs, high efficiency, and most importantly, an affordable upfront cost.
Lasering in on the last point, if you’re in the market for an easy-on-the-pocket motorcycle, here’s a list of the top 10 cheapest bikes in India at the moment.
Hero HF 100 – Rs 51,450
The most affordable bike right now is the Hero HF 100. While it doesn’t pack many features, it makes decent power and promises an epic fuel efficiency
The most affordable motorcycle in India right now is the Hero MotoCorp HF 100.
As you’d expect from such an affordable bike, the HF 100 keeps things simple, boasting a conventional design with halogen bulb-type lights all around. Under the skin, meanwhile, lies a 97.2cc, single-cylinder engine making 8.36PS and 8.05Nm.
While the HF 100 doesn’t pack much, you can take a look at the slightly pricier but better-equipped HF Deluxe, in case you want to splurge on something more premium.
Bajaj CT 110X – Rs 59,104
The Bajaj CT 110X is next and comes in at a slightly higher price
The Bajaj CT 110X is the youngest member of the CT family. Launched just last year, the CT110X promises to be a capable, rugged commuter for the urban jungle.
To help it deliver on these claims, it boasts an engine bash plate, a luggage carrier, and tank pads, while drawing power from a 115cc, single-cylinder engine making 8.6PS and 9.8Nm.
TVS Radeon – Rs 59,925
Next up are two TVS bikes. The first one is the TVS Radeon which is arguably the most feature-packed bike in this list
Offering better equipment than the CT110X, the TVS Radeon is also a great commuter to consider in today’s times.
In typical TVS fashion, the Radeon comes equipped with a handful of modern features such as a combined braking system, USB charging port, a side-stand telltale light, and LED DRLs.
On the performance front, the Radeon produces 8.08PS and 8.7Nm from its 109cc, single-cylinder mill.
TVS Sport – Rs 60,130
And the other one is the TVS Sport. This uses the same engine as the Radeon but packs a sportier design
The TVS Sport is basically a (slightly) sportier alternative to the Radeon. It is built on the same platform and uses the same 109.7cc engine as the Radeon, but misses out on a few features such as USB charging.
This means if a sportier design is your key priority, this is probably a better bet for you than the Radeon.
Bajaj Platina 100 – Rs 60,576
One of the most popular affordable bikes is the Bajaj Platina. This, though, is the entry-level 100cc trim and keeps things fairly simple
The Platina 100 is the entry ticket into Bajaj’s lauded Platina lineup and it is powered by a 102cc, single-cylinder mill making 7.9PS and 8.3Nm.
There aren’t many features to talk about, with the only notable bits being an electric starter and LED DRLs. Yet, we’ll still recommend the Platina, owing to its simple but trustable nature.
Honda CD110 – Rs 66,033
The only international bike on this list is the Honda CD110
Finally, a Japanese option! The CD110 is the most affordable Honda bike on offer right now and it packs features like a silent electric starter, CBS, side-stand engine cut-off, and an analog instrument cluster.
Underneath all this is a 109cc engine making 8.8PS and 9.30Nm, which comes mated to a four-speed gearbox.
Bajaj Platina 110 – Rs 69,216
If the 100cc Platina doesn’t cut it for you, then the sportier and more powerful Platina 110 is for you. This one is slightly more expensive, though, so prepare to keep some extra cash aside
If the Platina 100 feels a little blah to you, then you can shelve a little more and go for the Platina 110.
Compared to its smaller sibling, this one gets Y-shaped alloy wheels, a disc brake, handguards, and gas-charged rear shocks. Not to mention, there’s a more powerful 115cc engine under the skin, pumping out 8.6PS and 9.8Nm.
Hero Splendor Plus – Rs 69,380
Finally, the Hero Splendor! You possibly expected it to be higher in the list but it costs nearly Rs 70,000, which is why it’s here
Next up on the list is the popular Hero Splendor Plus. Even though the entry-level Splendor hasn’t changed much since its inception, it still sells quite well and is a viable yet affordable motorcycle.
The Splendor draws power from a 97.2cc engine making 8.02PS and 8.05Nm. Like its power figures, the feature list is pretty average comprising alloy wheels, an analog instrument cluster, and an electric starter.
Hero Splendor iSmart – Rs 70,390
But for a little more cash, you can also get the better-equipped Splendor iSmart and honestly, we’d recommend this over the Splendor Plus
If the Splendor Plus is a little too simple for you, then the Splendor iSmart is the way to go.
Compared to its more affordable sibling, this one gets Hero’s i3S fuel-saving technology, along with a more up-to-date design and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The highlight, though, is its bigger 113cc engine that puts out 9PS and 9.9Nm.
Hero Passion Pro – Rs 70,820
Finally, the most expensive bike on this list is the Hero Passion Pro. To justify its price, the motorcycle comes equipped with Hero’s auto-sail tech, a Digi-analog instrument cluster, and a sporty design, all topped by its 113cc, single-cylinder engine.
Yes, this is the same engine as the aforementioned Splendor iSmart and pumps out the same 9PS and 9.9Nm here as well.
