The Tata Avinya concept is by far the most outrageous looking concept vehicle to have ever come from the house of Tata Motors
Just after launching the cool-looking Tata Curvv concept a few days back, Tata Motors dropped another bomb in the form of an all-new concept vehicle, the Avinya. Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Avinya’, which means innovation, the new Tata Avinya concept previews a midsize electric EV and is the first concept based on Tata Motors’ Gen-3 architecture. The first production-spec model on this concept will arrive by 2025.
Tata Avinya concept gets a new platfom
After the CURVV, the brand has introduced the all-new Avinya Concept
The new Tata Avinya concept is the third step in Tata Motor’s game-plan of electrification, following the Gen-1 architecture used in current EVs like Nexon EV and Tigor EV and Gen-2 architecture previewed with the Tata Curvv concept. However, unlike the previous two architectures, the Gen-3 architecture underpinning the new Tata Avinya concept is an EV-specific skateboard architecture.
Tata Avinya Concept looks outrageous
Tata has been working on a lot of new concept models
Tata Motors has made it clear that the Avinya concept will make way for a purpose-built EV with no ICE derivative. It is evident from the overall design, with its wheels pushed far to the extreme corners. Like the Curvv concept, Tata Motors has resorted to minimalism in the overall design of the Avinya concept but has managed to make it look visually dramatic.
Tata is yet to comment on the powertrain of the upcoming Avinya
At the front, the Tata Avinya concept has small front and rear overhangs that make the vehicle look long and unique. The Avinya concept gets an aggressive-looking front end characterized by a stretched-out T logo, which is stretched across the entire width of the front end and has an illuminated theme in the form of LEDs. It also gets a unique-looking sold grille section, slim-looking headlamps integrated into the T logo and a sporty-looking front splitter.
The new Avinya Concept is an electric car and it will become an MPV in production form
The side profile of the Tata Avinya concept has a strong shoulder line which runs across the length of the vehicle from the front fender to the rear fender. The Avinya concept gets Rolls Royce-like suicide doors and seven-spoke alloy wheels with covered designs. At the back, the Avinya concept has full-width LED tail lamps, which look similar to the T-shaped front LED light bar, along with well-sculpted bodywork giving it a floating effect.
How does the Tata Avinya concept look on the inside?
The cabin gets a clean design
The Tata Avinya concept gets a very minimalist looking interior cabin, which focuses on the minimal presence of screens and conventional elements and panels. The dashboard looks slim and clean with no centre console for touchscreen and AC panels.
The new two-spoke steering wheel comes with an integrated screen through which one can control other information and voice-operated controls. The corners of the dashboard come equipped with TFT screens, which display the rearward visibility through the wing-mounted rearview cameras on the outside, which are in place of conventional rearview mirrors.
Tata has used the 90 degree opening suicide doors in the concept
Since it sits on a flat skateboard platform, the Tata Avinya concept gets a flat floor with plenty of legroom for front and rear occupants. The Avinya concept is a 5-seater vehicle which gets bucket seats at the front and a flat bench at the rear, with the former also getting swivel operation. Like many new-generation electric vehicles, the new Tata Avinya concept uses sustainable materials for its interior upholstery, with an aroma diffuser neatly integrated into the centre armrest.
500 km of range
While Tata Motors has refrained much from talking more on the powertrain details, the production vehicle based on its Gen-3 architecture will be offering a new suite of connectivity and advanced driver assistance systems.
Designed following global standards, the battery and powertrain will be resistant to water and dust. The officials from Tata Motors have told that they will be focusing on local manufacturing of batteries, which will support ultra-fast charging technology that can charge the battery in just 30 minutes and offer at least 500 km of driving range.
