Manufacturers are focussing on electric cars and CNG cars, but which one should you buy in the current scenario? Here’s your answer
The Indian market is going through a transformation. With the arrival of the new-age electric cars and ever-increasing fuel prices, most customers find it difficult to make a decision to choose between the two fuel types. But we can help you choose the best version for you.
Most Indian manufacturers are bringing CNG models. India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki offers a slew of CNG models. Hyundai and Tata also offer a few models with factory-fitted CNG. But with the increasing fuel cost and incomplete EV infrastructure, manufacturers are shifting to bring out new CNG-powered models to the country.
Manufacturers are working on new CNG models
CNG cars have a lot of advantages over EV
While Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors already offer factory-fitted CNG models in the market, other manufacturers may soon jump on the bandwagon. Hyundai’s cousin company Kia Motors is currently testing the Carens CNG and may even bring out the Sonet CNG in the future.
Tata Motors has become the first manufacturer to offer a fully-loaded variant of CNG models due to the customer demand. Other manufacturers may soon follow the same bring out fully-loaded variants of CNG. Until now, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai do not offer CNG variants with the top-end models.
With the new manufacturers bringing their CNG products, we will soon have a plethora of choices
Skoda and Volkswagen are also exploring CNG models in India. The German Group may soon bring out new variants of its popular models like Slavia and the upcoming Virtus with factory-fitted CNG.
Who should buy CNG models?
Well, it is easy to know, you simply have to SWIPE UP to know the best choice between the two.
If you love going out on the weekends and have the choice of buying only one car, the CNG will be the best deal here. CNG stations have swarmed across the country now and all the major parts of the country have numerous CNG stations. This allows customers to get low-cost fuel on the move.
However, even if there are no CNG stations in the vicinity, the CNG-powered vehicles also work with petrol. So there are no chances of getting stranded. CNG is much more widely available compared to electric charging stations in India at this moment. So if you like road trips, the CNG will be your best choice.
Who should buy Electric Cars?
But electric cars are in their own league
If you own a car just to commute to the workplace and back and do not go outside the city limits, the electric car should be your choice. While electric charging stations are not very widely available on the highways, there are plenty of options inside the city limits. So choose the electric car, if you do not travel using the vehicle much. Electric cars are much cheaper to maintain and use compared to any petrol, diesel or CNG vehicle.
