When it comes to sheer performance, not many SUVs can come close to the XUV700 and Fortuner Legender
Since its launch, the Toyota Fortuner is successfully holding its supremacy in the segment of full-size SUVs, thanks to its image as a robust and reliable SUV for varied purposes. In its latest iteration, the Toyota Fortuner Legender, the SUV is now much better equipped and looks even better than the erstwhile versions. However, the constant updates and Toyota’s undisputed run in this segment resulted in skyrocketing the prices of the Fortuner, as a result of which its value-for-money quotient has come under scrutiny.
And it is where the Mahindra XUV700 has come in as a unique proposition. While it is not as big as the Toyota Fortuner, the sheer power and torque figures of the XUV700, the comfortable three-row seating, and an even longer list of features are compelling many buyers to not make the stretch for buying the Fortuner.
Overview
While the Toyota Fortuner Legender is a segment above the Mahindra XUV700, the power-to-weight ratio of the XUV700 is almost nearer to that of the Fortuner Legender, which calls for a drag race to find out which one of the two is faster on a flat stretch. A video from the YouTube channel of Elvish Yadav Vlogs shows these two SUVs taking on each other in a drag race on a flat surface.
The Contenders
The two contenders for this drag race are Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Fortuner Legender, both of which have diesel-automatic powertrains and two-wheel-drive powertrains. The Mahindra XUV700 has a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine under its hood, which is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and produces 185 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque.
And there is no doubt on the popularity of the Toyota Fortuner in India
On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner Legender has a bigger 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which pumps out a much higher 204 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. While the XUV700 is a front-wheel-drive vehicle, the Fortuner Legender channels its power produced to the rear wheels.
