The pricing for the upcoming JAC T9 has finally been revealed, giving us a sense of where the new vehicle will fit in South Africa’s competitive bakkie landscape.
The double cab will initially be sold in two trim levels with prices ranging from as low as R529,900 for the rear-wheel-drive version, up to R649,900 for the top-spec 4×4 option.
All examples of the T9 are driven by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel engine, though JAC has stated that additional powertrains are in the works, including plug-in hybrids and battery-electrics.
For now, the T9’s diesel block gives it 125kW and 410Nm, which connects to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox and lets it carry a one-tonne payload and tow up to 3,500kg behind it.
The bakkie additionally boasts a ground clearance of 210mm, and an approach and departure angle of 27 and 23 degrees, respectively.
Depending on the trim level, JAC’s new flagship product provides features like automatic LED lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a multifunction steering wheel, electronically adjustable front seats, cruise control, keyless entry and start, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.4-inch infotainment screen, and a sunroof.
It also has assistance systems like front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, hill-start assist, six airbags, and ABS with brake assist.
