Bakkie buyers with a love for double cabs and Mitsubishi’s rugged image can now commit R529,990 to get their hands on a new limited-edition version of the entry-level Triton, dubbed the GLX, which is meant to celebrate the current models before the new generation makes its debut in 2024.
The GLX comes with an exclusive equipment pack valued at R10,000, which raises the price to a new total of R529,900 and adds a Triton tailgate lock, a black Keko Sports bar, a tonneau cover, a low nudge bar, a double tube tow bar, and a Sony infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
This is on top of the items already standard to the Triton, which comprise 16-inch wheels, daytime running lights, side steps, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, front and rear electric windows, electric side mirrors, ABS, and electronic brake-force distribution.
The driving force being the rear-wheels is a 2.4-litre, turbocharged diesel engine with 100kW and 324Nm, which connects to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Mitsubishi is consequently able to average 8.0l/100km, tow 1,400kg, and carry 1,000kg in the back.
