There is no denying that litre-class motorcycles sit on top of the food chain and are the ultimate bikes that combine the best performance, electronics, and technology onboard. One of the popular offerings in the 1000cc superbike space is the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is the most affordable litre class superbike in India currently. But does that mean that the ZX-10R has compromised on its performance?
In this video by Youtuber Suraj Verma, watch the new Kawasaki ZX-10R taking on the middleweight Honda CBR 650R. Who do you think is the quicker fully-faired sportsbike amongst the duo?
The Contenders
In this video you will get an idea of how fast an actual litre class superbike is compared to a middleweight entry-level superbike
Before we get into the other details, let us learn about these superbikes first, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is the more powerful offering amongst the duo. The ZX-10R uses a 998cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line four-cylinder engine that produces about 203 PS of peak power at 13,200 rpm and 114.9 Nm of peak torque at 11,400 rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox.
The Honda CBR 650R, on the other hand, is a middleweight sports bike that uses a 648.72 cc, inline-four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SI Engine that produces 87.01 PS of peak power at 12,000 rpm and 57.5 Nm of peak torque at 11,400 rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox.

Rolling Race and in-gear acceleration test
The Ninja ZX10R also packs a lot more electronics on board to keep the rider safe
There is no use in performing a one-on-one drag race between the ZX-10R and the CBR 650R because the litre class motorcycle produces more than double the power output of its middleweight rival. So the riders decided to perform a rolling race instead.
Superbikes have been aspirations for many motorists, especially the young generation
The ZX-10R rider gave the CBR 650R a chance to start early, but the CBR 650R was no match to the instant power delivery and acceleration of the ZX-10R. The ZX-10R reached a top speed of 157 km/h in the first gear, while the CBR 650R touched 109 km/h in the first gear.
The presenter achieved a top speed of around 271 km/h on the Ninja ZX-10R.
