Achieving an impressive Top Speed, this short clip proves that the Tiago CNG is both fast and fuel-efficient
With increasing petrol prices, CNG is the next most popular alternative in India. However, the hardcore enthusiasts are not much fond of the performance they get in CNG vehicles.
With the introduction of Tata Tiago iCNG in the Indian market, the buyers now have an option to invest in a powerful and feature-rich CNG offering. For those wondering, here is a Tata Tiago iCNG top speed test in pure CNG mode.
Tata Tiago Specs
Before we begin, let’s take a quick look at the specs of the Tata Tiago CNG. The Tiago iCNG gets the same 1.2-L Revotron Bi-Fuel engine that puts out 72.40 bhp and 95 Nm of peak torque in the CNG mode. This engine comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission and boasts strong performance in real-life usage conditions.
Tata Tiago CNG Top Speed
The Tiago CNG clocked 160 kmph on the speedo in the 5th gear on pure CNG mode
After the kickoff, the first gear maxed out at around 44Km/h and following it the second gear maxed out before reaching 85Km/h. The third gear on the other hand maxed out at around 127 km/h. The fourth gear was good enough to cross 155kmph on the speedo but the progress was slow as the engine neared redline. The fifth gear is more of an override gear and takes the car to an impressive top speed of 160km/hr.
Reaching a top speed of 160km/hr for a CNG vehicle is quite impressive but it is worth noting that the performance was decent till 100-120 km/h and started to slow down after that. The acceleration was extremely slow after crossing 140km/h and the car took significant time to accelerate to 160 km/h post that.
