Royal Enfield got the much-awaited Scram while Triumph finally announced the prices of Adventure 660
We’re just three months into 2022 and it’s already been an action-packed year so far for the Indian two-wheeler industry. Curious to know which exciting two-wheelers were launched here recently? Well, here’s a list of the top five two-wheeler launches from the month that went by telling you exactly that.
Royal Enfield Scram 411
The Himalayan-based motorcycle uses a 411cc, single-cylinder engine and gets a handful of updates which make it more suitable for the city
Arguably the most-awaited and exciting launch of March 2022 was the Royal Enfield Scram.
The Royal Enfield Scram is based on the popular Himalayan and uses the same 411cc, single-cylinder engine with exactly the same output. However, since this is targeted more towards city use, you don’t get a jerry can brace, a windscreen, and a luggage rack.
Amongst many 2-wheeler launches in March ’22, the most awaited one was the RE Scram 411
What you get, though, is a Meteor 350-derived single-pod instrument cluster and swanky color options which make the Scram funkier that the serious-looking Himalayan.
Thanks to all this, the Scram is also lighter than the Himalayan. This should make it more efficient too, at least in theory. But here’s a test that proves otherwise.
Okinawa Okhi-90 Electric Scooter
The next best launch was the Okinawa Okhi-90 electric scooter, the company’s new high-speed, flagship product
Coming EVs, Okinawa took the wraps off its new flagship scooter, the Okhi-90 just a few days ago.
The Okhi-90 was expected to be a premium high-speed electric scooter and it didn’t disappoint. The scooter draws power from a 3.6kWh battery that’s mated to a 3.8kW motor, both of which give it a claimed top speed and range of 90kmph and 160km, respectively.
The Okhi-90 boasts a likable design, modern features, and a powerful battery-motor combo. Plus, it is claimed to be more efficient than the Ola S1 Pro!
What’s interesting, though, is that Okinawa claims this range is in the less efficient Sport mode and the scooter can cross 200km of range when in Eco mode. This essentially makes it more efficient than the Ola S1 Pro.
Besides all this, the scooter rolls on massive 16-inch alloy wheels, an industry first for a scooter in India. Want to know more about the Okhi-90? Then, simply check out our launch story.
Oben Rorr Electric Motorcycle
Another EV that blessed us in March was the Oben Rorr electric motorcycle
Bengaluru-based Oben is one of the newest startups in the EV scene yet it has targeted the niche segment of e-bikes by launching the Oben Rorr electric motorcycle in the country.
The bike boasts a likable neo-retro design and comes laden with features like all-LED lighting, three riding modes, a dedicated app, and Bluetooth connectivity.
With a top speed of 100kmph and claimed range of 150km, this is viable option in the e-bike space and can ruffle the feathers of the Tork Kratos
The USP, though, is its 4.4kWh battery and 10kW (peak) motor combo. While the former gives it a claimed maximum range of 150km, the latter helps it reach a top speed of 100kmph and sprint from zero to 40kmph in just 3 seconds.
Plus, Oben has adopted a lithium-iron-phosphate battery here, which helps the Rorr fully charge in just two hours.
Triumph Tiger Sport 660
Swipe up to get an in-depth look at all these two-wheelers.
After keeping us waiting for a long time, Triumph finally launched its most affordable ADV here, the Tiger Sport 660.
The Tiger Sport 660 is based on the likeable Trident 660 and uses the same 660cc, triple-cylinder engine putting out 81PS, same as the Trident. But since this is a tourer/ADV, you get a completely different design with a semi-fairing and a tall windscreen to make it more purposeful.
After a long wait, Triumph finally brought its most affordable ADV, the Tiger Sport 660, to India
For more details and to know why this is better than its arch-rival, the Kawasaki Versys 650, head to our dedicated story.
TVS Jupiter ZX SmartXconnect
Finally, TVS also took the stage to launch the Jupiter ZX SmartXconnect, the new flagship in the Jupiter lineup
Last but not least, we have the new flagship Jupiter, the TVS Jupiter ZX SmartXconnect.
For this iteration, TVS has equipped the 110cc Jupiter with an NTorq-borrowed fully digital LCD dash which boasts Bluetooth connectivity and even voice commands, the latter being a segment-first feature.
The highlight of this variant is the NTorq-derived digital instrument cluster which packs voice commands, a segment-first feature in this category
Apart from this, this variant also gets a new dual-tone seat and two dedicated color options to help it stand out from the other variants of the Jupiter.
However, as impressive as these additions are, the asking price is a little too much for a 110cc scooter. Head here to know more about it.
