Despite industry setbacks, these two wheelers were able to rack in the sales numbers. Pre-pandemic levels will take time though
The two-wheeler market in India has many potent offerings. But only a handful of these excel in the actual test – sales!
Curious to know which two-wheelers sold the most in the first month of 2022? Well, read on to get the answer.
Hero Splendor
Here are the top 10 highest-selling two-wheelers from January 2022
When it comes to raking in sales, there’s nothing quite like the trusted Hero Splendor. With 2,08,263 units sold last month, it is the highest-selling two-wheeler in the country. However, the Splendor has actually suffered a 7.6% YoY decrease in sales compared to January 2021.
Nevertheless, the bike continues to be a go-to motorcycle for consumers in need of an efficient, trustworthy, and comfortable product. The prices of the Splendor start from Rs 65,610.
Honda Activa
In second, we have the Honda Activa with over 1 lakh units sold
The Honda Activa waves the scooter flag and decimates its competition by recording 1,43,234 sales in January 2022. Its YoY sales, though, have actually gone down by a big 32.3%.
The prices of the Honda Activa start from Rs 70,599 going up to Rs 82,280 for the 125cc version.
Honda CB Shine
Third spot goes to the Honda Shine, which recently crossed the 1 crore sales mark
Another Honda that keeps soaring high is the CB Shine, which sold 1,05,159 units last month. Compared to January 2021, there was a 9.5% dip in sales, but this is still an impressive number.
In fact, the CB Shine recently crossed the 1 crore sales mark, which goes to show its mettle and popularity.
Meanwhile, it is priced from Rs 74,442 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Hero HF Deluxe
The Hero HF Deluxe took the fourth spot with over 85,000 units sold
Just behind the Shine is the Hero HF Deluxe. It recorded 85,926 sales and suffered from a substantial 36.2% YoY dip. In fact, the HF Deluxe had actually recorded better sales than the Honda Shine in January 2021.
The HF Deluxe is one of the most affordable offerings on this list, with prices starting from just Rs 54,650.
Bajaj Pulsar
The entire Bajaj Pulsar lineup managed 66,839 sales, a tad disappointing considering the lineup has 10 models
Bajaj’s popular Pulsar lineup saw an expansion last year with three new models, namely the Pulsar NS 125, N250, and the F250. Yet, it recorded only 66,839 sales, a 31.5% decrease from January 2021.
This number becomes even unimpressive when you consider that it includes the whole Pulsar lineup comprising the Pulsar 125, 150, 180, 220F, NS 125, NS 160, NS 200, N 250, F 250, and the RS 200.
Bajaj Platina
Meanwhile, Bajaj’s trusted commuter raked in 46,492 sales
The Bajaj Platina, in sixth place, is the only two-wheeler here to record positive YoY growth in sales. With 46,492 units sold in January 2022, its sales went up by a huge 71.3% compared to January 2021.
The Platina range starts at Rs 59,859 going up till Rs 68,384.
TVS Jupiter
The TVS Jupiter and Jupiter 125 recorded 43,376 sales combined
Next, we have the TVS Jupiter. With 43,376 sales last month, it was the highest-selling indigenous scooter in the country. Bear in mind, though, that this number is a cumulative figure, including the sales of the Jupiter and the Jupiter 125.
The TVS Jupiter is priced from Rs 66,998 while the Jupiter 125 starts at Rs 75,625.
Suzuki Access
This was almost matched by the Suzuki Access, which single-handedly managed 42,148 sales!
Closely behind the Jupiter is the popular Suzuki Access. It recorded 42,148 sales, an impressive figure considering this isn’t a cumulative number like the TVS Jupiter. It is, however, WAY behind its arch-rival, the Honda Activa.
Prices of the Access begin from Rs 75,600 going up to Rs 84,800, depending on the variant.
TVS XL100
The TVS XL100 impressed again with 35,758 sales, even though it sees the biggest YoY dip on the list
The second TVS offering on this list is the XL100 with 35,785 units sold last month. The moped witnessed a 39.3% YoY dip, the biggest one on this list.
However, the TVS XL100 is one of the most capable workhorses in our market and it even offers some handy features like USB charging and LED DRLs. It’s also the most affordable two-wheeler here as it starts from just Rs 41,790.
Honda Dio
Last but not the least was the Honda Dio. For more details and analysis, swipe up.
Rounding up the list is the Honda Dio. The company sold 27,837 units of this scooter, which was a nominal 3.7% YoY dip than January 2021.
The Honda Dio serves as a more affordable yet sporty alternative to the Honda Activa. Its prices start from Rs 66,030.
