It costs close to ₹25 lakhs and can give a BMW M2 a run for its money
After twelve long years of making driving enthusiasts go weak on their knees, the potent Volkswagen Polo is set to depart into the history books. The tight fit and finish levels, excellent ride and handling balance and incredible engine options like the 1.2-litre TSI, 1.5-litre TDI and 1.0-litre TSI have made the Polo one of the best compact cars to drive in India.
Overview
Several enthusiasts in India have tried to make their Volkswagen Polo feel even sportier and maniacal to drive. This one Volkswagen Polo we have come across surpasses the level of the madness of them all. Modified by Surat-based NikTrans Motorsport, this Volkswagen Polo is a brainchild of Mr Nikunj Wagh, which took a year for all the modifications.
It gets a mind-boggling 2.0-litre 400 bhp TSI engine under its hood, making it even faster than some stock sports cars like BMW M2 and Mercedes-AMG C63.
A video on the YouTube channel of The Drivers Hub shows this maniacal 400 bhp Volkswagen Polo in all its glory. Let’s look at how different it is from the stock version of the Polo.

The star of this heavily-modified Volkswagen Polo is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine from the globally-available MK6 Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TSI. The engine gets paired to a massive 50mm stage 3 turbocharger from APR, a Haldex all-wheel-drive system and an upgraded 6-speed DQ250 automatic gearbox.

Other inclusions making this Polo a very special and a true wolf in sheep’s clothing include an upgraded air intake, a custom race-peg free-flow downpipe mated to a Magnaflow exhaust system and a turbo smart-blow-off valve for letting all the pressure off the turbo whenever necessary. It also gets its ignition coils from Audi R8 for a fatter spark inside the block, an upgraded race-spec intercooler from Forge Motor Sports, braking combination of 345mm discs at the front and 320mm discs at the rear and KS Motorsports fully adjustable suspension.
Are the changes limited only under the skin?
There are no glass in the rear for weigh saving (SWIPE UP TO KNOW HOW)
Not at all. This Volkswagen Polo has received several changes in and out to save weight and accommodate the intense amount of modifications under its skin. The rear doors are gone to give the car a two-door look and save weight, while it gets flared wheel arches at both front and rear to suit the increased track width. The larger air intake also protrudes out of the nose of the car, which looks a bit odd but serves its purpose effectively.
There are numerous changes including removal of rear doors
Inside, you can see that the original seats are gone for lighter sports bucket seats, which are positioned a bit lower for racecar-like driving ergonomics. Another weight-saving measure is the replacement of rear window panels and windscreens with plexiglass panels.
How much power it produces?
With a maximum power output of 400 bhp and a peak torque output of 530 Nm, this is not only the most powerful version of the Polo but also the most powerful Volkswagen car right now in India. This Polo can cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in just under 4 seconds – a supercar territory figure.
What is the overall cost of this modification?
This VW Polo is like no other in India
The mind-boggling specifications and premium-level machinery and gadgetry used in this heavily-modified Volkswagen Polo isn’t a cheap job. According to Mr Nikunj Wagh, the man behind this project car, the overall cost, including all the modification processes, is between Rs 20-25 lakh. It is almost similar to the asking price of Polo GTI with a 1.8-litre TSI, which came to India in limited numbers. However, this modified Polo is almost twice as powerful and faster than the Polo GTI.
Is it the ultimate Volkswagen Polo one can have in India?
With not so drastic changes on the outside, this vanilla-coloured Volkswagen Polo might get mistaken as a regular Polo from a distance. Though with such earth-shattering power, torque and acceleration figure unseen before, this Polo will arrest your attention if it flies past you.
