Yamaha’s take on the Jupiter is sold in the Malaysian market
The Southeast Asian two-wheeler space is ripe with many striking two-wheelers and one such offering is the Yamaha Jupiter 135LC. Even though its name is similar to the TVS Jupiter, the Yamaha Jupiter 135LC is actually a lot different. Let’s take a look.
2022 Yamaha Jupiter 135LC Looks & Features
Yamaha has taken the wraps off the 2022 Jupiter 135LC
The Yamaha Jupiter 135LC has been around in the Malaysian market since 2006 and this is its first major update.
Starting with the design, the Yamaha 135LC now gets a striking design language. This is due to the design elements like handlebar-mounted LED headlight, surrounding body panels, and the overall aesthetic, have all been sharpened for 2022.
And for added sportiness, there’s a more premium 135LC SE variant which comes with deep golden alloys
The Yamaha 135LC is available in two variants: standard and SE. The former is offered in three colors, namely Ruby Red, Crystal Cyan, and Midnight Star, while the latter is only available in Desert Storm option dark golden alloy wheels for an added premium touch.
Meanwhile, the standard Jupiter 135LC comes with a new LCD instrument console and LED lights
Like the design, the 135LC’s features are more impressive too. It now packs a fully digital instrument cluster, LED lights, and a multifunction keyhole. Bluetooth connectivity has been given a miss here, though, which is a bummer.
In addition to these bits, the Jupiter 135LC SE gets a bucket upfront housing a USB charging port and a waterproof cubby storage.
2022 Yamaha Jupiter 135LC Engine & Underpinnings
Another update comes to the 135cc engine, which now adheres to Euro 4 norms and makes 0.4PS and 0.4Nm more than before
Another key update for 2022 comes to the 135LC’s engine. It now draws power from a Euro 4-compliant 135cc, single-cylinder motor which makes 12.4PS and 12.2Nm, 0.4PS and 0.4Nm more than its older model. However, this bump in performance is offset by a 4kg increase in the 135LC’s weight, bringing it to 109kg.
A contributing factor in the weight gain is the bigger fuel tank which now holds 4.6-litre fuel, 0.6-litre more than before.
The underpinnings, however, remain more or less unchanged
Things remain more or less unchanged in the underpinnings department. The Jupiter 135LC continues to feature 17-inch alloy wheels with single disc brakes (now hydraulic), telescopic forks, and a monoshock. It also retains its easy-going nature, courtesy its low seat height of just 775mm.
2022 Yamaha Jupiter 135LC Price
The 2022 Yamaha Jupiter 135LC is priced at RM 7,798 (Rs 1.41 lakhs) while the Jupiter 135LC SE costs RM 8,198 (Rs 1.49 lakh). Compared to our Indian Jupiter, this is quite a lot of money and certainly less value. But since this is a Malaysia-only offering, it’s not something we should really worry about.
