The motorcycle has gained a new orange paint scheme for this year, among other things
2022 Yamaha YZF-R3 – What’s New?
The most notable change for 2022 is the Yamaha R3’s new color option. The bike now comes in a new Vivid Orange livery alongside Yamaha’s signature Racing Blue and Midnight Black options.
The most notable change for 2022 is this new Vivid Orange livery (KTM, is that you?) that comes laden with golden USD forks
The Vivid Orange livery boasts a dual-tone finish with the surrounding headlight panels, front fender, and the fuel tank all wrapped in glossy orange while the side fairings and tail panels are all matte grey in color. The livery, though enticing, must’ve shaken KTM a little. *inserts ‘Toh mai kya karu? Job chodh du?’ meme*
Meanwhile, this new livery also gets golden USD forks which, we think, look premium and should be standard for all color options.
Also, for 2022, the bike now gets a new exhaust and weighs 1kg less than the 2021 model
Apart from this livery, the bike also gets a revised exhaust that’s longer than the one we see in other international markets and also comes laden with plastic exhaust shields which make it look chunkier.
Rest, every other design detail – the headlight, tail lamp, fairings, and alloy wheels – all remain as it is.
The bike retains its 321cc, parallel-twin engine and now makes 41PS and 29.4Nm, 1Nm more than before
Another notable change here is in the engine department. The 2022 Yamaha R3 now makes 41PS and 29.4Nm from its 321cc, parallel-twin engine which is 1Nm more than the 2021 R3 sold in Taiwan.
Also, the bike now weighs 170kg (1kg less than its older model), probably due to the redesigned exhaust.
2022 Yamaha YZF-R3 – What’s Unchanged?
Apart from this, the chassis and the suspension remain as it is
Changes aside, everything else remains unchanged on the ‘22 Yamaha R3. So you get the same 37mm USD forks, monoshock, and steel tube chassis, along with the same 17-inch alloy wheels clamped by two 298mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear, just like the 2021 R3.
Also, the features, comprising LED lights, ABS, and an LCD instrument cluster, have also been carried forward.
2022 Yamaha YZF-R3 Price
Thanks to the updates, the 2022 Yamaha R3 now retails at 2,70,000 Taiwanese Yuan (Rs 7.18 lakh) which is simply insane by Indian standards, considering you can get the Triumph Trident 660 here for roughly the same amount.
