Here’s what to expect from the final production model of one of the most radical designs that we’ve seen from Tata in a while
Tata recently revealed the all-new Curvv in a concept form. While we know a lot about the all-new vehicle through the official details, here are a few unknown facts about the car. Tata will take about two years to transform the car from concept model to production form.
Most cars change a lot during the journey between the concept and the production form. But Tata claims that the all-new Curvv will remain at least 80% similar to the concept model. Here are a few other little-known facts on the Tata Curvv.
Dimensions will not change
It will also get a special type of door handle
Tata Curvv will be positioned just above the Tata Nexon in the market. Tata has a gap in its portfolio between the Tata Harrier and the Tata Nexon, which the Curvv will bridge. While Tata has not officially announced the dimensions of the Curvv, it will be a 4.3-metre car.
Martin Uhlarik, Global Design Head, Tata Motors told us that these are the final dimensions of the production version of the car and nothing will change. The overhangs, wheelbase, width, height and length of the car will remain the same as the concept model. While we were concerned about the changed proportions of the car in the production form, this will be an assurance that the production version will look as dynamic as the concept model.
Will get flush-fit door handles
It will be the first car to be based on the 2nd generation EV platform
Tata did not put any door handles on the concept model to give it a clean look. But even the production version of the car will continue to offer this clean and neat look with the flush-fit door handles. Tata will offer electronic automatic handles just like we get to see on the XUV700 and expensive Land Rover models like the Range Rover Velar.
To ride on 18-inch alloy wheels
The alloy wheel design will be similar in the production version as well
Tata showcased the concept model with 20-inch alloy wheels. However, the production form of the car will come with 18-inch alloy wheels. The design of the alloy wheels will be similar to the concept version. For perspective, both Tata Harrier and XUV700 offer 17-inch alloy wheels.
ICE-versions will not get a flat floor
Tata uses a minimal cabin design with the Curvv
Tata showcased the Curvv Concept as an electric car because it will be first car from the brand that will be developed as an EV first. At a later stage, ICE-powered variants of the Tata Curvv will be available in the market as well.
The Curvv EV gets a flat floor that increases the amount of space inside the car. However, with the EV version, there will be a transmission tunnel or the hump that will intrude into the space. Tata Motors say that the height of the hump will be minimal.
First car on the second-generation platform

Since Tata has developed this platform keeping electric cars in mind, it gets a much higher battery capacity. The ability to pack larger batteries will give a much longer range to the Tata Curvv EV. The production version of the Curvv will be the first car to be based on the new platform. Tata Motors will bring 10 electric cars in the next few years and a lot of new cars will use the platform.
