There’s been a long delay but it seems the bike’s launch is finally around the corner
It’s no breaking news that KTM India is gearing up to launch its current flagship fully faired bike, the 2022 RC 390 in India. While the bike was supposed to go on sale sometime in December 2021, these plans got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.
Now, finally after a brief hiatus, KTM has listed the 2022 RC 390 on its Indian website and has accidentally leaked its price too.
2022 KTM RC 390 Price In India
According to the site, the bike will bear the exact same price as the outgoing model. However, this will be an introductory price
KTM has listed the 2022 RC 390 on its new Indian website at a price of Rs 2,77,635 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is exactly the same price tag as the outgoing model and is likely to be an introductory price. Not to forget, KTM also did the same when the 2021 RC 125 and RC 200 arrived in India. Both the motorcycles did not get any price revision.
However, before you applaud KTM for this, it’s worth noting that the company has introduced consistent and substantial price hikes for RC 390 in 2021, even though there weren’t any updates to justify the price bumps.
The bike will come in two colors: KTM Racing Blue and KTM Electronic Orange
The 2022 KTM RC 390 will come in two colour options, KTM Factory Racing Blue (inspired by KTM RC16 MotoGP bike) and KTM Electronic Orange (KTM’s signature orange and black colourway), both of which go well with the bike’s new design language.
2022 KTM RC 390 Updates
The new colors complement the bike’s all-new design language
Speaking of the new design, the 2022 KTM RC 390 bids adieu to its radical design and opts for an all-new design. Everything – the fairings, the headlight, the visor, the mirrors – is new and prioritizes function over form.

Being a fan of the older RC 390, I’m not too fond of the new design but if it does, in the end, result in a better riding experience, I’d be happy to look past it. One thing which I can’t look past, though, is the new exhaust, which looks quite out of place here.
For 2022, the bike also packs a TFT instrument cluster along with traction control and cornering ABS
Apart from the design, the bike gains a lot of other bits too. For starters, you finally get a KTM 390 Duke-derived TFT display with smartphone connectivity (a huge step up from the ageing LCD setup on the outgoing model) along with cornering ABS and traction control from the KTM 390 Adventure.

Then, the bike now packs improved underpinnings, comprising a new bolt-on subframe, WP Apex forks, adjustable WP monoshock, and a bigger 320mm disc brake upfront. All this, coupled to the bike’s new and lighter five-spoke alloy wheels, should make the RC 390 ever-so-agile.
However, while all this is clearly good, it seems KTM has once again skipped out on adjustable forks for India, as there’s no mention of it on the official website.
Next, KTM has also updated the bike’s ergonomics. So you get an adjustable clip-on handlebar, new rider and pillion seats (with better cushioning), and a new fuel tank, which now holds 13.7-litre fuel.
Finally, there have been a few subtle updates to the 373cc, single-cylinder engine too. It now features a bigger airbox and a new engine map, while the bike also gains a bi-directional quick-shifter to make gear shifts as precise as ever.
2022 KTM RC 390 Launch Timeline
KTM has also tweaked the engine map and increased the size of the airbox to help the engine breathe better
With the website up and running, it wouldn’t be wrong to expect an imminent launch by KTM. Consequently, we expect KTM to launch the bike this month itself, probably around the festival of colours, Holi.
