YouTuber Aayush ssm reveals just how far the Scram 411 can travel using 1 litre of fuel
After a long tease, Royal Enfield has finally launched the Scram 411. It is priced slightly lower than the Himalayan. While the Scram 411 is basically a stripped-down Himalayan, it is lighter and has a smaller wheel at the front, to make it more easy-going than the latter. More importantly, in theory, this should also make the Scram 411 more efficient than the Himalayan.
Curious to know whether the Scram 411 is actually more frugal than the Himalayan? Well, lucky for you, YouTuber Aayush ssm has tested this out, and here’s how it went.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 Mileage Test
For this test, the YouTuber decided to do things in an old-school way, i.e. fill up the tank fully, ride the motorcycle for a few kilometres, and then refill the tank fully to see how much fuel the bike used. This is the more reliable way to measure fuel efficiency.
The test starts off by filling up the bike to the brim
So the video starts off with the YouTuber filling up the motorcycle to the brim and then setting off to ride. During the test, the YouTuber rides through all kinds of situations including stop-go traffic, highway speeds, and even a little bit of broken roads.
The YouTuber claims that he kept riding at triple-digit speeds for nearly 10km on the highway and that the Scram 411 feels fairly okay at such speeds.
This also includes stop-go traffic conditions
So finally, after riding for 41km in and around Delhi, the rider goes to the fuel pump and refills the tank to the brim. The bike swallows 1.3-litre fuel, indicating efficiency of 31.5kmpl, which isn’t all that bad.
Finally, there’s also a brief off-road stretch which is covered at crawling speeds
Now, bear in mind, this isn’t the ‘peak’ efficiency of the motor and is more of an average fuel efficiency that one can expect from the bike in day-to-day conditions. Plus, the bike, being all-new, is probably still in its run-in stage, so expect the mileage to improve even further after a proper first service.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 vs Himalayan Mileage Test
The Scram 411 manages a decent 31.5kmpl in these varied conditions. Wondering how close this is to the Himalayan? Well, swipe up to find out.
So is the Scram 411 more efficient than the Himalayan? Well, it can be. You see, when ridden sanely in the city, the BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan can return upwards of 32kmpl and we believe this could also be the case with the Scram 411, especially when you think this test had a mix of sane yet fuel-chugging conditions.
All in all, it’s safe to say that the Scram 411 would match the Himalayan’s efficiency easily in most conditions, if not beat it.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 Pricing & Details
Curious to know the fuel efficiency of the new RE Scram 411? Well, YouTuber Aayush ssm has given us an idea about it
As mentioned above, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 commands a lower price tag than the Himalayan. At an introductory starting price of Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it is roughly Rs 13,000 cheaper than the Himalayan. However, for the lower price tag, you miss out on plenty of bits like a luggage carrier, windscreen, jerry can holders, and more informative instrument cluster.
Plus, when you consider that RE will hike the Scram 411’s price soon, the Himalayan sort of comes out as the more sensible and versatile buy here. Doesn’t it? Let us know what you think.
