After numerous test sightings, the leaked brochure finally gives us an insight into what all the Scram 411 does differently from the Himalayan
By now, every motorcycle enthusiast knows that Royal Enfield is working on a road-focused version of the Himalayan, called the Scram 411. It has been spotted testing albeit any camouflage a few times now and this time, the upcoming bike’s brochure has already surfaced on the internet giving away most of its details like features, ground clearance, and engine spec.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 Design & Features
As seen in these images, courtesy of Bullet Guru, the brochure highlights the various aesthetic differences between the Scram 411 and the Himalayan
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is essentially a Himalayan in a road-going guise. And it looks like it too. The windscreen up front, luggage racks at the rear, high-set front mudguard, and the braces for jerry cans at the sides are all gone, making it visibly more city-focussed. In place of these, you get a new metallic headlight nacelle and a badge plate at the side.
Along with this, the Scram 411 gets a new, ribbed single-piece seat, replacing the split seat on the Himalayan. The new seat is complemented by chiselled side panels under it.
To further help the Scram 411 look different, Royal Enfield is expected to offer the bike in different colour options, two of which (red and blue) have already been spotted in the flesh.
Apart from these, everything – the round headlight, oval tail lamp or even the tank shape – are more or less reminiscent of the Himalayan.
One of the biggest changes for the Scram 411 will be a 19-inch front tyre, replacing the 21-inch unit on the Himalayan
The next big change comes to the features. According to the brochure, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 will house a dual-pod instrument (borrowed from the Meteor 350), one of which will feature the Tripper navigation pod. Whether the latter will be sold separately or as standard fitment for some variants is unclear as of now.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 Engine & Suspension
The bike will be powered by the 411cc motor from the Himalayan without any changes
Now, the underpinnings. One of the biggest talking points for the Royal Enfield Scram 411 is the 19-inch front wheel which replaces the 21-inch unit of the Himalayan. This has been done to make the Scram 411 easier to ride on the road as the 21-inch tyre is more focused on off-road riding.
With this change, the ground clearance has also decreased to 200mm, 20mm less than the Himalayan. However, 200mm is still plenty of ground clearance, even for our roads with countless tall bumps and speed breakers. The 19-inch tyre will also feature a wider tyre up front.
The list of phsyical changes include a new seat, removal of touring accessories, and a new headlight nacelle
Besides this, the suspension, comprising a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear, are expected to be exactly the same as the Himalayan.
And like the suspension, so will be the engine. The Scram 411 will employ the same 411cc, single-cylinder motor from the Himalayan. It makes 24.3PS and 32Nm. The performance should be slightly more spirited here, though, considering the absence of touring accessories will result in a weight reduction.
Royal Enfield Scram 411 Launch & Price
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is expected to launch very soon, possibly in the coming two months. Considering all the changes, the Scram 411 should cost a little less than Himalayan, somewhere around Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). For reference, the Royal Enfield Himalayan starts from Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
These will be sold under Royal Enfield’s Make-it-Yours programme. For more details about the Scram 411, swipe up.
If launched at this price, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 would make a decent value-for-money product in our market. Along with the bike, Royal Enfield will also introduce dedicated apparel and accessories range for the Scram 411 under its Make-it-Yours programme.
