With the scrambler persona and the RX100’s peppy engine, this should be a riot to ride
The scrambler fever has well and truly struck the Indian market as a lot of leading bikemakers introduce such products.
And going with the trend is Mumbai-based bikemaker YC Design, who has tastefully converted a Yamaha RX100 into a good-looking and purposeful scrambler.
The Aesthetics
One look at the YC Design’s Yamaha RX100 scrambler and it leaves a lasting impression, courtesy of the likeable design which keeps the retro persona of the Yamaha RX100 intact.
However, since this is a custom bike afterall, YC Design has thrown in a few aftermarket touches like a special Nardo Grey paint job along with smaller fenders and blacked-out mechanicals for a stealthy appearance.
While the engine remains unchanged, the brakes and the rear suspension are aftermarket
Additionally, the bike also packs a custom handlebar with bar-end mirrors, a tuck-and-roll seat, and a sleek LED tail lamp, all of which spruce up the scrambler vibe of the build.
Though a custom build, the overall silhouette is similar to the OG RX100
The scrambler vibe is also amplified by the thick Ralco block pattern tyres, which should also bump up the bike’s ground clearance and seat height.
All this is complemented by an aftermarket single-pod analogue instrument cluster (also finished in black) that replaces the stock unit.
The Mechanicals
For this build, YC Design has thrown in a custom Nardo Grey paint scheme while also blacking out the mechanicals
One of the key highlights of the RX100 is its engine. And YC Design has made sure it stays that way. So this build still employs the stock 98.2cc, two-stroke engine which puts out an impressive 11PS and 10.5Nm.

The suspension and brakes, though, are different. While the front telescopic forks remain untouched, the bike is now sprung on aftermarket dual shock absorbers at the rear, finished in red.
Coming to brakes, the bike uses a TVS Apache RTR-sourced petal disc up front and a drum brake at the rear.
Can You Buy One?
There’s also a custom handlebar with bar-end mirrors and a premium tuck-and-roll seat
Well, no. You see, YC Design built this custom RX100 scrambler for a customer who provided them with a donor bike, so it isn’t really on sale.
But if you have an RX 100 (or any retro bike for that matter) at your home which needs restoration, YC Design will happily restore or customize it for you.
Interested? Well, we suggest you head to the company’s Facebook page and get a quotation.
