Although the Ola S1 Pro boasts superior performance, the Ather 450X still gives it a good fight
The Ather 450X has been on the EV scene for a while now and has established itself as one of the fastest electric scooters in the country. However, this changed in 2021 when Ola introduced its S1 Pro electric scooter, claiming to be the most powerful offering in the segment.
So what happens when you put these two against each other in a drag race? Well, wonder no more, because YouTuber Pradeep On Wheels has done exactly that, and here’s how it went.
The Competitors
Going in the order of seniority, our first competitor is the tried-and-tested Ather 450X. It is Ather’s flagship offering and is powered by a 6kW motor (making 26Nm) coupled to a 2.9kWh battery. You get four ride modes here, namely Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp.

Next, we have the Ola S1 Pro, Ola Electric’s flagship electric scooter. The S1 Pro employs an 8.5kW motor (making 58Nm) along with a 3.97kWh battery. Unlike the 450X, you get three ride modes here, namely Normal, Sport, and Hyper.
Now that you’re up to speed on the competitors, let’s get to the drag races.
Ola S1 Pro vs Ather 450X Drag Race Round 1
In the first round, both scooters are put in their most frugal modes
When the riders swap scooters, the race is much closer.
For round 1, both scooters are set to their most frugal riding modes i.e. Eco for the Ather 450X and Normal for the Ola S1 Pro.
As soon as the race starts, the Ather 450X jolts ahead getting an early advantage over the Ola S1 Pro. The latter, however, takes a few seconds to get up to speed and ultimately passes the Ather 450X. Not just this, the S1 Pro keeps on stretching its lead as it gets to around 70kmph. Meanwhile, the Ather 450X maxes out at 48kmph, which is its top speed in the eco mode.
The Ather 450X gets an early jump on the S1 Pro but the latter flies past later on, giving it the win
When the riders swap scooters, the race is much closer. The Ola S1 Pro, with a lighter rider onboard, keeps up with the Ather 450X in the early stages and passes it after a few seconds, once again taking the cake.
Ola S1 Pro vs Ather 450X Drag Race Round 2
In sports mode, the 450X gets an even bigger jump over the S1 Pro. But the S1 Pro wins again, thanks to its more powerful motor
In the next race, the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro are both set in their sport modes.
Once again, just as the race begins, the Ather 450X catapults ahead of the Ola S1 Pro and takes a bigger lead than it did in the first round. However, the Ola S1 Pro catches up to it and once again flies past it, thanks to its more powerful motor.
In this run, the Ather 450X manages to hit 70kmph while the Ola S1 Pro does 85kmph. Had there been more space, both scooters breached these speeds.
Ola S1 Pro vs Ather 450X Drag Race Round 3
The Ola S1 Pro maxes out at an impressive 117kmph in the final run, giving it the win over the 450X which manages 90kmph
Finally, for the third round, both scooters are set to their most powerful modes i.e. Warp mode for the 450X and Hyper mode for the Ola S1 Pro.
This is where the Ola S1 Pro shows its true cards and truly prevails over the Ather 450X. At the start, the Ola S1 Pro is marginally ahead of the Ather 450X, but as they pick up the pace, the S1 Pro’s power advantage comes into play, and it reaches a top speed of 117kmph while the 450X maxes out at 90kmph (both speedo-indicated).
Bonus Round
As a bonus round, the YouTuber also tests the reverse modes for both offerings. The Ather 450X is faster here
Apart from the usual races, the YouTuber also put the two scooters head-to-head in a reverse race. Basically, the scooters were put into their reverse gears and raced against each other.
The Ather 450X won this round, maintaining a constant speed of 3kmph. Whereas, the Ola S1 Pro-cut off every now and then, even though it has the same top speed in the reverse gear.
Bear in mind, this round is just for fun and not an actual performance test.
Ola S1 Pro vs Ather 450X Drag Race – Verdict
Without a doubt, the Ola S1 Pro is the winner here, as it flew past the 450X in each and every round.
The Ather 450X is no slouch either, though, and it has once again shown that it is still very relevant in today’s market.
