A Bengaluru based resident was able to achieve the official claimed numbers and beyond
Amongst the numerous claims by Ola Electric, arguably the most important one is the range of the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter. And while many people have questioned these claims, Dr Karthik did the opposite and actually eked out more range than Ola’s claimed number, let alone match it. YouTuber Pradeep On Wheels caught up with him to get the insights and here’s how it went.
The rider covered 165km and came home with 14% battery (22km range) left
In the video, Dr.Karthik, a resident of Bengaluru, mentions that he mainly bought the Ola S1 Pro to ride around in the city to commute to his patients. And his maximum range was achieved on a normal workday rather than a proper range test.
The scooter was ridden on the highway, in the city, and even in gullies, with ample stops in between
So what range did he get? Well, as you’ve already seen in the title, Karthik claims that he achieved a range of 187km in a single charge. However, he only traveled 165km and upon returning home, he had 14% battery left and the scooter indicated 22km remaining range, hence the 187km of range.
For reference, the Ola claims a maximum range of 181km for the S1 Pro, that too in ideal conditions.
How Was It Achieved?
Youtuber Pradeep On Wheels recently caught up with a resident of Bengaluru has achieved 187km of range on his Ola S1 Pro e-scooter
When asked how he managed this, he told that it was a fairly cool day in Bengaluru day and the scooter was ridden on the highway, city, and even narrow gullies. Upon further discussion, he insists one of the major reasons for such an impressive number was the fact that he didn’t do any long runs on the scooter. Every time he visited the patient, the scooter had ample time to cool down, which is a big factor in achieving maximum efficiency on EVs.
Further, the scooter was ridden at its most frugal mode, Eco, and at an average speed of 27kmph. And the constant regeneration certainly helped too.
He also adds that had he kept riding for the remaining charge, the scooter would’ve probably returned a little less range than the number shown on the display. But it’d probably be very close to the claimed number, which is very impressive.
Other than this, Dr.Karthik says he’s quite satisfied with the product and the only major gripes he has is the lack of a smartphone app and other features that were promised during the launch. Ola claims the features will be rolled out via OTA updates in the future.
