The sales chart though tell a different story as and it was topped by Hero Electric
Without a doubt, electric two-wheelers are starting to pick up the pace and become a go-to solution for consumers. And this is reflected in their sales numbers as well.
Curious to know how EVs did in Feb’ 2022? Well, The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released its sales data, and here’s how your favorite electric scooters and bikes did last month.
Hero Electric Tops The Sales Charts
Topping the charts is none other than Hero Electric, having sold over 7,000 scooters in February 2022
According to FADA’s sales numbers, Hero Electric recorded the highest number of EV sales at an impressive 7,356 units, which was a huge 235 percent YoY growth compared to February 2021. Considering that Hero Electric recently launched another value-for-money scooter, expect this number to only get better with time.
In a close second place was Okinawa Autotech which recorded 5,923 sales last month
Slotted in second and third were Okinawa Autotech and Ampere with 5,923 and 4,303 units sold last month, respectively. What’s more impressive is that all three (Hero Electric, Okinawa, and Ampere) outsold more prominent companies like Ola, Ather, and Revolt by a substantial chunk.
Ola Electric Outsells Ather & Revolt
Speaking of Ola Electric, it sold 3,904 units of the S1 e-scooter in February 2022. Interestingly, though, the company claims to have delivered 7,000 units last month. While there’s no way to verify Ola’s claim, it’s worth noting that FADA counts the registrations on the VAHAN portal which could be lower than the claimed delivery numbers since Ola Electric offers temporary registrations at the beginning.
Ather Energy saw a 600 unit drop in its sales numbers from January 2022, having sold around 2,200 units in February
Whatever the case, even with these sales numbers, Ola Electric managed to outperform two of its main rival companies, Ather and Revolt, which managed 2,229 and 1,128 sales last month.
Compared to last month, Ather’s sales numbers have dipped by around 600 units.
Apart from these companies, big names like the TVS iQube Electric and Baja Chetak are missing from this data, both of which are more than capable of causing a stir in the standings.
Which Electric Two-wheeler To Buy?
With only around 1,100 units sold, Revolt’s performance was quite disappointing
In recent times, the country’s seen a sea of electric two-wheeler launches. From big names like Ola Electric to smaller names like Bounce Infinity E1, the e-mobility space hasn’t been riper with options.
But with so many choices, also comes the burden of deciding which electric two-wheeler to buy. And if you’re facing this issue, I’d suggest you check out our top 10 electric scooter picks in the market right now.
