The Okhi 90 Blends modern features, good looks, and a decent battery-motor combo — all at an affordable price tag
Okinawa Autotech was one of the first EV companies in India and it has raked in over 1.5 lakh sales since its inception.
Following up on its success, the company has now launched its new flagship scooter, the Okhi 90, to take on the new and popular electric scooters such as the Ola S1 and the Ather 450.
Okinawa Okhi90 Design & Features
The scooter has a likable design with no loud or in your face elements
One look at the Okhi 90 and it looks quite likable. The design isn’t in your face and it can be easily confused with an ICE scooter, which is a good thing and will make the transition for ICE consumers easier.
Up front, you get a bright LED headlight flanked by LED DRLs and sleek LED indicators
Upfront, the scooter flaunts an all-LED headlight with a chrome nacelle, which is flanked by sleek LED DRLs and LED indicators on the apron. Plus, the rearview mirrors and the side panels get chrome treatment to make the design even more delectable.
Meanwhile, the rear is sharp and has a small luggage rack to add to the scooter’s practicality
Everything is brought together by a wide LED tail lamp that looks quite sharp and adds a bit of flair to the mostly subtle design language. Not to forget, the tail also has a small luggage rack.
Okinawa will offer the Okhi 90 in four colors: Glossy Wine Red, Glossy Pearl White, Glossy Ash Grey, and Glossy Jewellery Blue
However, there were a few hard-to-ignore panel gaps and flimsy plastics here and there, which we hope Okinawa fixes before commencing deliveries.
Coming to features, the Okhi 90 boasts a TFT instrument cluster laden with Bluetooth connectivity to aid with stuff like turn-by-turn navigation
Complementing its good looks is a healthy feature list that comprises:
- All-LED lighting
- USB charging port
- Massive 40-liter bootspace with LED light (highest for a scooter in India)
- Keyless ignition
- Multifunction key
- Cubby storage
- Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and music controls
- App connectivity features like geo-fencing, speeding alerts, find-my-vehicle function, and over-air-updates
- TFT instrument cluster
- Eco and Sport riding modes
Interestingly, we’re also told that the company will offer a more affordable variant with an LCD instrument cluster
What’s worth noting here, though, is that we’re told Okinawa will also introduce a more affordable variant of the Okhi 90, featuring a non-Bluetooth enabled LCD instrument cluster instead of the Bluetooth-equipped TFT. Details about the scooter’s availability are yet to be announced.
Okinawa Okhi 90 Battery, Motor & Underpinnings
Judging from all this, what do you think should be the Okhi 90’s price? Made up your mind? Now, swipe up to know its actual price.
Like the features and design, the Okinawa Okhi 90 scores high in the battery and motor department too. It draws power from a detachable, IP 65-rated 3.6kWh battery which is coupled to a 3.8kW (peak) mid-mounted motor.
The battery and motor both come with a three-year warranty each
While the company hasn’t shed any light on the acceleration figures, it has claimed a more than impressive range of 160km in Sports mode and upwards of 200km range in Eco mode. This will vary in the real world but still remains quite commendable.
And if you ever run out of juice, the battery can be recharged from zero to 80 percent in just one hour.
Another highlight of the scooter is its 16-inch alloy wheels, the biggest ones ever on an Indian scooter
The 16-inch alloys also give the Okhi 90 an impressive 175mm of ground clearance.
Coming to its underpinnings, the scooter relies on telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. What’s interesting here though, is that the Okhi 90 rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels, a first for any scooter in India. These alloys are clamped by single disc brakes on both ends, coupled via CBS.
Okinawa Okhi 90 Price
