The bike was part of the CRT championship winning Forward Racing team in 2014
MotoGP bikes are the epitome of track motorcycles, but only a handful of riders ever get the opportunity to swing a leg over one. And if you want to be part of this club, UK-based DH Superbikes is giving you a chance to not just ride one but to take one home. And honestly, it’s a steal deal.
Here are its details.
What Is It?
The motorcycle on sale here is a 2014 Forward Racing CRT motorcycle ridden by none other than Colin Edwards in MotoGP. In fact, this was one of the bikes which helped Edwards secure the CRT championship in 2014.
The bike comes with its original race fairing (all made of carbon fibre), wrapped in Forward Racing’s livery with NGM graphics.
This bike was part of Forward Racing’s CRT championship winning fleet, ridden by Colin Edwards
DH Superbikes bought this motorcycle directly from FTR (the chassis manufacturer of this bike) and claims a lot of parts were missing at the time. The seller sourced these parts later, and the bike is currently in running condition.
The list of parts missing also included the electronics package. So DH Superbikes has equipped it with a Kawasaki dash kit CCU by HM. Fancy words aside, it is basically an aftermarket LCD instrument cluster for race bikes. Additionally, the quickshifter, traction control, launch control, and all other sensors are all claimed to work as they should.
What’s Underneath?
It is powered by a 999cc, four-cylinder engine putting out 196PS on the dyno
Without further ado, let’s come to the engine. The Forward Racing CRT bike is powered by a 999cc, four-cylinder motor, sourced from Kawasaki and mated to a full-system Arrow exhaust. Yes, even though Kawasaki didn’t have its own team, it supplied engines to MotoGP teams in 2014.
The engine is claimed to put out 196PS on the dyno, which is a pretty solid figure for an eight-year-old motorcycle. For reference, the 2021 Kawasaki ZX-10R puts out 178PS on the dyno.
Meanwhile, suspension comprises Ohlins at both ends while braking is via Brembo calipers
It is housed in a prototype chassis, sprung on top-shelf adjustable Ohlins suspension at both ends. Meanwhile, the brakes are sourced from…you guessed it, Brembo.
With all this, DH Superbikes will also give you a paddock stand and a laptop with all of the bike’s supporting data free of cost.
The Moolah
UK-based DH Superbikes has put up Forward Racing’s 2014 MotoGP race bike on sale
Finally, the price. DH Superbikes has priced this delicious piece of kit at a delectable price of 27,997 Euros ( Rs 28.6 lakh). Considering companies invest millions of bucks in the production of these bikes, I’d say this is a solid steal deal.
Of course, one can only ride it on the track, but if money ain’t a problem, this is certainly one of the finest collector bikes out there.
