To control the increasing level of pollution, the Delhi Government is taking another drastic step to not sell fuel without a valid PUCC
Delhi government will soon make it mandatory to carry Pollution Under Control certificate or PUCC, to the fuel stations. Without a PUCC, the attendants will not fill fuel in the vehicle. If the certificate is invalid, the customer can get it reissued at the pump.

The move plans to bring down the pollution in the region. The government will soon put out a draft policy in the public domain for suggestions and discussions.
Gopal Rai says that it is a very ambitious policy and will help North India including Delhi to tackle air pollution, especially during the wintertime. After the implementation of the new policy, the fuel stations will authenticate the PUCC before refueling.
The move is to bring down the pollution levels, especially in the Northern India
The minister says that this move will keep the pollution level of every vehicle under check. He also added that the new rule will ensure that the vehicles that pollute will not ply on the Delhi roads and the residents can enjoy cleaner air.
The Delhi government will soon make it mandatory to carry PUC to the fuel stations
As per the department experience, PUCC enforcement is highly effective when conducted at the fuel stations. However, the final result of the policy will take months or a very long time to show any major result.
The government will introduce the plan in a way that it does not causes long queues at the filling stations
The government of Delhi will also set up new technology-based methods for effective implementation of the new policy so that the fuel pump operators and the consumers do not face any problems and long queues for filling fuel.
Will it help in reducing pollution?
The Delhi government has already banned 10-year old diesel and 15-year old petrol vehicles. With the new policies, the government is focussing on vehicular pollution only. While this seems like a great initiative and a step in the right direction, pollution checking centres should be just as stringent.
Also, it will be only a minute change in the level of pollution even with the mandatory PUC certificates. What do you think about the new plan?
