At these prices, most continental bikers just can’t ignore this striking naked bike
In mid-2021, Chinese motorcycle-maker CFMoto introduced its 700 CL-X Heritage roadster in the European markets. And it was almost certain that the bike’s sporty version, the 700 CL-X Sport, would follow suit.
Now, a brief hiatus later, CFMoto has launched the 700 CL-X Sport in the European market at a juicy price tag, which makes us want the bike here.
CFMoto 700 CL-X Sport Design & Features
The 700 CL-X Sport, in Europe
The CFMoto 700 CL-X Sport, like its sibling, adopts a neo-retro design. The round headlight and the chunky, short tail make it look like an old-school cafe-racer while the striking LED DRL, sporty graphics, and the 10-spoke alloys add the ‘neo’ touch to the package.
Further, bits like faux carbon fiber inserts, bar-end mirrors, and the short steel exhaust ensure excellent attention to detail.
Owing to the equipment on offer, you may think this would cost a bomb. However, it’s actually quite the opposite. Swipe up to know its price.
It is offered in two color options – Grey with blue inserts and white with bright yellow inserts. Between the two, the latter would be our pick.
Being the more focused model in the CL-X lineup, the 700 CL-X Sport comes with a low clip-on handlebar and a rear seat cowl, meaning no pillions. Its seat height, though, is quite accessible at 795mm.
As for features, the bike packs cruise control, ride modes, ABS, a self-adapting headlight, and a digital instrument cluster
Design-aside, the 700 CL-X Sport impresses in terms of features too, as it packs all-LED illumination, ABS, a self-adapting headlight, cruise control, slipper clutch, and an LCD instrument cluster equipped with two riding modes.
Considering the price segment of this bike (650-700cc entry-level naked), these are easily class-leading features.
CFMoto 700 CL-X Sport Engine & Underpinnings
The 700 CL-X draws power from a 693cc, twin-cylinder engine which produces 73PS and 68Nm
Powering the 700 CL-X Sport is a 693cc, twin-cylinder engine with 73PS and 68Nm on tap. This is the same engine that does duty on the 700 CL-X Heritage and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The motor is housed in a steel trellis chassis which is sprung on a fully adjustable USD fork along with a monoshock, both sourced by KYB.
And to help you cut speed, you get top-shelf Brembo Stylema calipers at both ends
And if you think this is impressive, braking is entrusted in top-shelf Brembo Stylema calipers at both ends, which also does duty on bikes like the Suzuki Hayabusa and the Ducati Panigale V4. Now, that is simply mind-blowing!
Lastly, the bike has a 13-liter fuel tank and tips the scales at 205kg (laden). The latter is a little higher than its rivals, but surely not a deal-breaker in any way.
CFMoto 700 CL-X Sport Price
Now, judging from the components and features at hand, one would expect the 700 CL-X Sport to cost a bomb. But CFMoto has actually hit it out of the park by pricing it at just 6,999 Euros (Rs 5.92 lakh) which is a superb value even by Indian standards.
With CFMoto aiming to expand its lineup in India, this is surely a motorcycle we’d love to see on our shores. And if the company ensures a competitive price, it’ll certainly give bikes like the Kawasaki Z650 and the Honda CB650R a run for their money.
