This partnership could also birth many new electric two-wheelers, both from Ola and Bajaj
Last year, during the launch of Pulsar 250s, Bajaj took a dig at Ola Electric which, as expected, went viral. The EV brand, though, took no time and reverted with a social media post returning the favor to Bajaj.
Judging from this, one would expect these brands to be arch-rivals, but in a shocking move, Ola Electric has actually partnered with Bajaj and will start working together from May 2022 onwards.
Ola Electric & Bajaj Auto Partnership
If you take out the little spat between the companies, the tie-up isn’t really much of a surprise. Ola Electric clearly needs some help to meet delivery deadlines and improve the quality of its products, while Bajaj has always taken a keen interest in partnering up with popular brands as we’ve already seen with KTM, Kawasaki, and the most recently, Triumph.
On one hand, this would help Ola Electric make its products more reliable and undergo proper real-world testing at Bajaj’s facility, thus helping it beat the Ather 450X
So what can you expect from this partnership? Well, most importantly, a more refined and trustworthy version of the Ola S1 electric scooter as the EV giant will be open to use Bajaj’s extensive test facility, ensuring the scooter is up to quality so the #trending fire incident doesn’t happen again.
Not to mention, Bajaj could just launch a new e-scooter altogether with cues from the Ola S1, just like it did with its partnership with KTM
Meanwhile, Bajaj will benefit here by getting a closer look at Ola’s technology (at least some part of it) which would then help the leading bikemaker polish the Chetak or perhaps even launch a new Bajaj e-scooter.
The two companies will work in conjunction, sharing their knowledge with each other
As beneficial as this is for the companies, the Ola-Bajaj partnership would be even more beneficial for us, the consumers, because let’s face it, reliability and problems aside, there isn’t really a more popular, higher-selling electric scooter in the Indian market than the Ola S1. With reliability woes out of the picture, the S1 is in all sense a revolutionary product for the Indian industry.
As shocking as it seems, the tie-up isn’t very surprising since Bajaj has a habit of partnering up with popular brands, as we’ve already seen with KTM, Kawasaki, and Triumph
Not to mention, these improvements would give the Ola S1 a monumental jump over its rivals like the Ather 450X, which seems to only have the advantage in terms of reliability rather than features, performance, or range.
Conclusion
Now that you know all about the partnership, all I can say to you is….a very happy April fool’s day. Yes, this was not at all true and joining hands with each other is probably the last thing on the mind of these two companies.
Also, this is also a reminder that you shouldn’t trust anyone and anything you see on the internet without fact-checking the deets. Anyway, ciao!
