A Sinister Scrambler Based On The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650
This blacked-out beast was tastefully modified by Mexico-based Rebellious Garage
Since its launch in 2018, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has sold like hotcakes, and that’s not just in India. We’ve seen numerous custom bikemakers choose the Interceptor 650 as their canvas throughout the world and the latest one comes from Mexican bikemaker Rebellious Garage, who have converted the bike into a stealthy scrambler.
The Aesthetics
Dubbed the ‘Riot’, this particular Interceptor 650 looks nothing short of sinister. Gone is the chrome-laden stock avatar and in comes an all-black matte finish.
Everything – from the suspension and frame to the exhaust and spoke wheels – comes wrapped in matte black with the only silver bits being some of the engine fins.
The bike gets an aftermarket LED headlight with a raised handlebar
To keep the retro charm going, you still get a circular headlight upfront. It is an aftermarket all-LED unit, though, and is accompanied by a shortened front fender to keep things clean.
One of our favourite bits about this build are the side panels, which get a tasteful air vent-like design.
You also get an aftermarket LED tail lamp
The handlebar has been swapped with a taller unit and it now rests on aftermarket mounts, probably to further increase handlebar height. This is complemented by a slim single-piece seat, rounded off by a minimalistic tail section featuring a chopped fender, shortened frame, and a small LED tail lamp.
Also, the number plate mount has now moved to the left side, near the swingarm.
The Riot 650 is pure eye-candy
One of the most stand out bits here is the side-mounted instrument cluster. Looks quirky, doesn’t it?
Where’s the instrument cluster, you ask? Well, Rebellious Garage has taken an unorthodox approach here and positioned the twin-dials below the handlebar on the left side. This doesn’t seem very practical but hey, at least it looks cool (kind of).
Engine & Underpinnings
There are no major changes to the engine, except for a custom exhaust system
Coming to the mechanicals, the Riot 650 continues to draw power from the same 648cc, twin-cylinder engine as the stock Interceptor 650. You do, however, get low-slung, black custom exhausts, replacing the stock upswept chrome units.
Like the engine, the suspension too appears unchanged, comprising telescopic forks and gas-charged twin shocks at the front and rear.
At the rear, the frame is shorter and gets a chopped fender for extra swagger
The biggest change in terms of underpinnings has come to the tyres. Instead of stock CEAT rubber, the bike now gets super-wide 140/130-section (F/R) block pattern tyres, which should add to its off-road capabilities. However, we think this is more to do with aesthetics than actual usability.
Can You Buy One?
Rebellious Garage hasn’t put a price on the Riot 650 yet. However, its social media profiles do list it as ‘Available’, meaning it’s probably up for grabs. Sadly, Indians can’t really get a piece of this since Rebellious Garage operates from Mexico unless, of course, someone is happy to bear the freight charges.
Instead, we’d suggest you buy the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in India and get it customized right here at an added cost.
Currently, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 starts at Rs 2.87 lakh going up to Rs 3.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
