The production version of the Curvv EV will take about two years to reach the showrooms
Tata Motors took the covers off what could be the next big thing from the Indian carmaker – Concept CURVV. This new SUV-coupe concept from Tata Motors will spawn a new midsize SUV, which will be positioned between the Tata Nexon and Tata Harrier in terms of size.
Based on this new Tata Curvv concept, Tata Motors will introduce an electric SUV first and its IC engine derivatives later on. It is based on the Generation 2 EV architecture, which is an evolved form of the Generation 1 architecture underpinning cars like Nexon EV and Tigor EV.
What’s different in Generation 2 architecture?

Tata did not reveal much about the new platform. However, they did reveal that the new generation platform will allow the cars to get multiple battery configurations. It is not purely designed for electric cars.
The new Tata Electric vehicles based on the Generation 2 platform will get multiple modes of battery regeneration and also a car-to-car charging facility. Tata will also offer a system that will provide power to an external source while camping or when there is a power cut at home. The details of these new systems are not out yet.
The production version of the CURVV will get a claimed range of 400-500 km. Tata will bring the electric version of the CURVV before the ICE version. When the ICE version reaches the market, it will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta.
Tata CURVV gets a unique design
With a sharp-looking silhouette with edgy details from front to rear, the Tata Curvv concept is an edgy-looking SUV coupe with a steeply flowing roofline and a high ground clearance. It is nothing like what has come from the design house of Tata Motors so far, which makes it the most radical-looking concept from the company to date.
The most prominent highlights of the exterior of the Tata Curvv concept include a clean looking front face, with a sleek strip of daytime running LED flowing across the front edge of the bonnet. The outer corners of the front bumper come with triangular LED lights, while a large air dam sits in the middle of the front bumper.
The Tata Motors Curvv concept has a sharply rising waistline, with a sharp crease flowing below it. There are slim protrusions on the A-pillar, which come integrated with LED turn indicators and are likely to be replaced with functional rearview mirrors in the production version. The concept also features a gloss-black finish for the wheel arches above the snazzy-looking alloy wheels with an aero design.
And this Coupe SUV concept is unlike anything else that we’ve seen before
At the rear, the Tata Curvv concept has a raked windscreen and C-pillars, with the windscreen ending up on a stubby boot lid. The boomerang-shaped LED tail lamps are adjoined with a sleek LED bar running across the boot lid’s width, thus making the whole lighting element look like a single part. Even the corners of the rear bumper come integrated with air vents with triangular highlights like that on the front.
The minimalistic design continues inside
The cabin also gets a minimalistic design
The Tata Curvv concept has a minimalist interior with a combination of white upholstery and piano black highlights. While the unique-looking seats and lower part of the dashboard have a white look, the two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated controls, touch-controlled climate control panel and lower centre console having the transmission knob get a theme of gloss black. The most unique highlight of the cabin is the long strip of LED flowing across the dashboard’s width.
Other highlights of the cabin of the Tata Curvv concept include a full-TFT rectangular stand-out instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system designed similarly. The concept also gets a distinctive-looking panoramic glass roof. However, only some of these features are likely to make it to the production version of the car.
