Tata recently launched the Punch in the Indian market as the first micro-SUV in its line-up. The car boasts best-in-class ground clearance along with a comfortable cabin and impressive power.
The Punch also boasts commendable safety and reliability as expected from Tata cars and ranks among the safest cars in India. The Punch is offered in 7 variants with the base named as the ‘Pure’. Here is a detailed walkaround of the Tata Punch base variant.
For starters, the Tata Punch aligns with the brand’s design language and gives off Harrier-like vibes from the front. The base-spec version comes with halogen headlamps along with parking lights.

The base variant misses out on features like LED DRLs and fog lamps on the front along with alloy wheels on the sides. The ORVMs however features an all-black finish while the indicators too are mounted on the mirrors. At the rear, the Punch gets halogen tail lamps along with two reverse parking sensors to assist you while parking in tight spaces.
For such a small car, the Punch boasts a muscular and intimidating styling with impressive built quality.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard features an elegant and attractive dashboard while the features list is generous for the price. While the driver’s seat misses out on height adjustment, you do get front power windows and manually adjustable ORVMs.

A major setback on the base variant is that it does not get an infotainment system or the high-quality audio setup that is being offered with the higher-spec Punch. The cabin gets two airbags in the front row and also boasts other safety features like ABS and EBD however features like brake assist and electronic stability program are definitely missed here.
The same 1.2-L Revotron engine is being offered with the base-spec Punch
The Tata Punch Pure variant is powered by the same 1199cc petrol unit that produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque. This same engine also powers the other variants of the Punch. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Pricing for the Tata Punch starts from INR 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
