Husqvarna is relatively a new motorcycle manufacturer at least for India, but the brand has almost 100 years of bike manufacturing experience. The Swedish brand introduced two quarter-liter motorcycles in India – the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250. These motorcycles are sold in India via Bajaj’s dealership network.
Bajaj introduced the Pulsar 250 twins in India recently. The F250 and N250 twins are the most powerful motorcycles in the Pulsar model lineup and share the same engine and hardware.

The Contender
The Vitpilen 250 uses a 249cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC engine
The Bajaj Pulsar N250 is powered by a BS6 compliant 249.07 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC, two valves, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The newly developed powertrain of the Pulsar N250 produces around 24.5 PS of peak power at 8,750 rpm and 21.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Husqvarna Vitpilen 250, on the other hand, uses a BS6 compliant 248.76 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve DOHC Engine that produces about 30 PS of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.
The 250cc unit is the same engine that also does duty on the KTM 250 Duke and comes paired to a six-speed gearbox.

Both the riders set off on the mark of three horns. The Pulsar N250 takes the lead while the Husqvarna Vitpilen rider pops an unintentional wheelie at the start slowing him down. But the Vitpilen catches up soon and even overtakes the Pulsar N250 and wins the first round with ease. The Vitpilen touches a speedo indicated top speed of 145 kmph while the Pulsar N250 touches a speedo indicated top speed of 144 kmph.

The riders decided to swap the bikes to keep the results fair. Both the riders set off once again on the mark of three horns. The Pulsar N250 takes the lead and leaves the Vitpilen 250 far behind. But the Vitpilen impresses with its initial acceleration and catches up soon, and even manages to overtake the Pulsar N250 mid-race and win the second round without breaking a sweat. The Pulsar N250 reached a speedo indicated top speed of 149 km/h in the second round.
