2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Spotted: Should You Wait For The New Himalayan?

Royal Enfield has finally heard our prayers because the much-awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 test mule was finally spotted doing its pre-production test runs recently.

The reports online state that this upcoming motorcycle will use a new liquid-cooled engine. You read that right, Royal Enfield will finally step outside its comfort zone and will equip the new Himalayan with a modern-day liquid-cooled motor.

The modern setup will help the upcoming adventure tourer deliver more power and torque output than the current Long- Stroke unit.

More powerful Powertrain

The upcoming Himalayan Adventure tourer, as seen in this image here by Zig Wheels will likely employ a newly developed liquid-cooled engine which was quite evident from the absence of fins on the engine of the test mule.

The engine might also feature a four-valve setup, while the current generation Himalayan gets a two-valve layout. According to the reports on Bikewale, the new mill is capable of producing an impressive 45 hp of peak power output. However, RE has tuned the motor to deliver around 40 hp while focusing on getting a stronger low and mid-range torque.

Last but not least, the upcoming Adventure tourer might also get a new six-speed gearbox.

New Trellis Frame

The upcoming Himalayan 450 will underpin a new chassis

The adventure tourer will likely employ a new trellis frame. Royal Enfield will work on a new and improved chassis to house the heavier liquid-cooled unit.

New Design and modern technology

Although the test mule was covered in heavy black camouflage, one thing is for sure the upcoming Himalayan looks bigger in dimension and appears to be more functional than the current model. The adventure tourer features a bigger fuel tank. It still gets the round headlamp, but we believe this will still get a conventional halogen setup (which is more practical and easily replaceable than a LED unit).

The test mule spotted was equipped with a circular instrument cluster from the Scram/ Meteor, but expect the production variant to get its newly-designed instrument cluster.

But the bike will also produce an equally punchy low and mid-range torque

The test mule of the upcoming Himalayan featured chunkier upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The Himalayan will probably be the second model after the upcoming 650cc Super Meteor to sport an upside-down suspension setup.
