IPOH: The business communities in Chennai and Hyderabad are keen on Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said research partnership in the automotive industry between Indian and Malaysian players was expected to be formalised in the future.
Zambry said his dialogue session with 80 business communities in Chennai and 90 business communities in Hyderabad recently, aimed at attracting investors from India, was also to showcase Perak’s potential as a tourist destination.
He said the Indian businessmen had shown interest to form partnerships.
“The agriculture sector was also dicussed during the meeting based on agriculture-based products that are important to India,” he told reporters after chairing the exco meeting here on Thursday.
He said India had several advantages especially in the information technology (IT) and biotechnology sectors, such as Hyderabad which is growing as a global IT and biotechnology hub.
Besides that, in his meeting with the chief ministers there, Zambry also introduced Perak and highlighted the business opportunities that could be harnessed in the state.
“One of the strategies proposed was to make Perak as the operating centre for their companies,” he said.
He said Malaysia had also played an important role in infrastructure development in India and this sector provided huge potential for Malaysian investors that country.
