The Contenders
In the second drag race attempt, the riders switched their bikes to keep the result as fair as possible
The Pulsar NS 125 features a smaller BS6 compliant, 124.4cc, air-cooled, two-valve unit. The unit paired with a 5-speed gearbox produces about 12 Bhp of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 11 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. The motorcycle gets a simpler air-cooled unit, unlike its bigger NS200 sibling that features an oil-cooled engine.
The KTM Duke 125 uses a slightly more advanced 124.7cc, single-cylinder, 4 Valve, Liquid Cooled, FI, DOHC motor. The unit paired to a six-speed produces about 14.5 Ps of peak power at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.
The Pulsar NS 125 is lighter by almost 15 kilograms than the 125 Duke. The KTM 125 Duke has a kerb weight of around 159 kilograms.

Round 1
but the KTM 125 Duke catches up soon and wins the first drag race attempt because it offers a better top end acceleration
In the first attempt, both the motorcycle riders launched their motorcycles perfectly. Initially, the Bajaj NS 125 took the lead because it offers slightly better initial acceleration than the 125 Duke. The lighter kerb weight of the NS 125 also worked in its favor. But the Duke catches up quickly and even overtakes the NS 125 and wins the race.
Attempt 2
Now, will the Pulsar NS 125 be able to overtake the KTM 125 Duke and win this drag race battle?
The riders swap their motorcycle before the second drag race attempt to keep things fair. The 125 Duke had a better start during the second attempt and took the first position this time. The 125 Duke, with its better mid-range and top-end power delivery, smoked the Pulsar NS 125 and won the second attempt without breaking a sweat.
Conclusion
The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 is a strong contender in the 125cc segment. But the KTM 125 Duke surely impresses with its outright power delivery and acceleration. There is no denying that the performance figures of the KTM 125 Duke truly justify its higher price tag.
