Rumour has it that Harley’s new affordable electric bikes might be launched in India. Here’s what we know
Globally renowned motorcycle maker, Harley Davidson has been in the news for having discussions regarding the introduction of more e-bikes under its EV brand, the LiveWire. Here’s what we know so far!
LiveWire E-Bikes
Globally acclaimed American motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson has been in internal discussions to introduce more electric bikes under its EV wing, the LiveWire. As per the media reports, there is a possibility that the brand, LiveWire will introduce its ‘S2 Del Mar’ e-bike within the span of a few years in the global market.
As per several media reports, there are high chances that Harley’s sibling brand, LiveWire will introduce its ‘S2 Del Mar’ e-bike
The electric bike is said to be based on the brand’s new ‘Arrow’ platform, which is a constructed modular design that uses a battery pack linked to the front steering head with an integrated motor. This might allow the brand to focus on reconstructing or designing a new chassis by structurally modifying or creating a totally different frame from the rear swingarm linkages. Further, the brand has also hinted that it might be using the same platform for future designs.
What to expect?
Harley Davidson has plans to introduce similar electric bikes that are based on the ‘Arrow’ platform right after its middleweight S2 models. Furthermore, it has been stated that there would be lightweight and heavyweight S3 and S4 series respectively. However, the LiveWire One is said to remain the brand’s flagship model.
The brand has also confirmed that its future models will be based on the ’Arrow’ Platform
Apart from this, the brand has mentioned that the new Arrow platform would be coming with a motor, battery pack, and onboard charger and inverter with different configurative features. Other than these, the platform might get a secondary channel or space, unlike the battery which has been stored and integrated into the frame, something similar to other motorcycles such as KTM SuperDuke R or even the Ducati Lineup.
To sum it up,the new electric vehicles will be unlike the LiveWire One which has a uber performance-oriented motor
Whatsoever, the vehicle is said to be designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the affordable-premium motorcycle category and hence will not feature uber-performance similar to the LiveWire One’s motor. Post the international debut, the e-bikes from LiveWire might also be introduced in the Indian market as per the media reports. Stay tuned to TopSpeed for further details.
