Here are 5 things you need to know about this limited edition Apache RTR
We’d recently stated that TVS Motors is planning to introduce a new Race Performance sub-brand which will spawn some performance-oriented models from their stable. The good news is that we did not have to wait long because TVS Motors already launched the Apache RTR 165 RP at Rs 1.45 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). The RTR 165 is the first offering under the company’s Race Performance sub-brand.
The Apache RTR 165 RP will be limited to just 200 units. That said, here are 5 things you should know about the motorsport ready machine.

The motorcycle also gets a race-spec suspension setup from SHOWA at both ends
- The substantial change on the TVSApache RTR 165 RP is the rebored version of the 159.7cc engine that powers the standard Apache RTR 160. The heavily reworked 164.9cc four-valve, the single-cylinder engine produces 19.2hp of peak power at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. It produces 1.7 Hp more power than RTR 160 while the torque figure has gone down by 0.53 Nm (for reference, the RTR 160 4V makes 17.5hp at 9,250 rpm and 14.73Nm at 7,250rpm.). The motorcycle continues to use the 5-speed gearbox.
- The Apache RR 165 RP gets a race-tuned slipper clutch (The Apache RTR 165 RP is the second motorcycle after the Yamaha R15 V4 to feature a slipper clutch). The bike also gets an adjustable brake and clutch lever.
- According to TVS Motors, the Apache 165 RP features 15 percent bigger valves controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-duration (HL-HD) cams which helps in providing 90 percent peak torque over a wider powerband. The dual spring valve actuators help in racier engine performance. Lastly, the revised bore and stroke of 1.37 has allowed the engine to rev freely up to 10,000 rpm
- The new Apache 165 RP shares the same double cradle chassis with the 160 4V. The bike gets a first in segment bigger 240 mm disc brake at the rear (the standard Apache RTR 160 4V gets a 200 mm petal disc). The front profile uses the same 270 mm petal disc brake. A single-channel ABS is offered as standard with the bike. The Apache 165 RP weighs around 148 kilograms which is 2 kilograms more than the disc brake-equipped RTR 160 4V.
- TVS Motors has used a race performance SHOWA telescopic race-spec setup at the front and a race-spec mono-shock setup at the rear also from SHOWA. Unlike the Apache RTR 200 4V, the front suspension setup does not get an adjustability option
