The BMW iX is late to arrive in the premium SUV segment that is swarmed by the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar. But it is finally here.
BMW India has officially announced the price of the all-new iX electric SUV in India today. At Rs 1.16 crore, ex-showroom, the iX is more expensive than Mercedes-Benz EQC. It is only available in a single xDrive 40 guise and is built around the electric-only architecture of BMW. If you wish to read more details, you can check our previous post on BMW iX.
What can BMW iX XDrive 40 do?
The all-new iX is BMW’s first electric SUV and its flagship product
It can go fast, very fast. The xDrive 40 comes with 326 horsepower dual motors that together generate a massive amount of torque at 630 Nm. The electric SUV can do 0-100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.
There are two electric motors positioned on each axle of the car. The AWD controller distributes the torque between the front and rear axles ensuring that the iX can go over any kind of road surface.

This is a lower-powered version of the car that can do 425 km per full charge of the battery according to the WLTP cycle. Using a 2.3 kW AC charger, it takes 36 hours to charge completely while an 11 kW wall box charger can do the same in 7 hours. Using a DC fast-charging system of 50 kW, the iX takes 73 minutes.
BMW is offering the 11kW wall charger complementary to the buyers for a limited period of time. The brand also plans to set up a fast-charging network across 35 cities in India.
