We explain just how fast the BMW M4 is as well as what BMW did to make it so fast.
BMW is well-known for its performance cars, and one of those is the M4 range. Prior to the M4 nameplate’s arrival, BMW had the M3 coupe and M3 sedan. The German automaker decided that the M3 should be a sedan model only; however, a coupe that is based on the same platform and engine should still feature but now as the M4.
One characteristic of both the M3 and M4 models is that they are very fast, and in this article, we will explain just how fast the M4 will go and what engine is making it reach that top speed. BMW M4 top speed
At the time of writing, customers can choose between two BMW M4 derivatives, the M4 competition coupe M xDrive and the M4 competition convertible M xDrive. The main difference between the two derivatives is that one has a fixed roof, and the other is a soft-top convertible. Although the convertible feature might encroach somewhat on the luggage space and increase the vehicle’s weight by 145 kg, both variants offer the same top speed.
The coupe and convertible models offer a limited top speed of 250 km/h as standard specification. However, customers can select the M Drivers Package for their vehicle, which will see the top speed on the convertible go up to 280 km/h and on the coupe, 290 km/h.
BMW M4 CSL
The BMW M4 CSL is a whole other beast. As the moniker CSL (Competition, Sport, Lightweight) alludes to, BMW has removed 100 kg from the original weight of the BMW M4 Competition coupe. Furthermore, the German automaker made enhancements to the chassis and increased the engine performance by 30 kW for a total of 405 kW and 650 Nm. This all results in an improved top speed of 307 km/h.
