While preparing to bring its first product to the Indian market, Tesla has been negotiating with the government to reduce the import duties.
The popular American electric car manufacturer – Tesla has secured approval for three new models from the authorities in India. The vehicle testing and certification agencies have greenlit three new models as per the information shared on Vahan Sewa, a Centre-controlled agency.

Tesla will bring cars under Tesla India Motors and Energy, which is the brand’s subsidiary in India. With the addition of three new cars, Tesla has now received homologation certificates for as many as seven cars.
What is a homologation certificate?
Any car that is sold in the Indian market needs to have a homologation certificate. Testing agencies check the vehicles to see if they meet all the specifications laid down by the government and then clear the car with a homologation certificate.
