The Pulsar 250 Twins share the same engine and chassis but which bike has the better pickup and top end? Read on to find out
Bajaj Auto launched the new Pulsar 250 twins recently in India. These are the most powerful Pulsar models launched by the Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer. Both the Pulsar models share the same chassis and engine. The Pulsar F 250 is a semi- faired variant, while the N250 is a street-naked variant. We have already posted their top speed and acceleration videos earlier (watch it by clicking this link.)
In this video, we can watch the Pulsar N250 drag racing its sibling, the Pulsar F250, to find out which one amongst the duo offers better initial acceleration and top speed. This drag race video gives you an idea about the real-world performance nature of the new Pulsar 250 twins.
The Contenders
Both bikes are paired to a six-speed gearbox and get a slipper clutch as standard, The N250 however is lighter than F250 by almost 2 kilograms
The Pulsar F250, as already mentioned, is a semi-faired variant that underpins a simple tubular frame chassis. It uses a newly developed 249.07cc, air, and oil-cooled, single-cylinder 2-valve fuel-injected motor. This unit paired to a new 5-speed gearbox pumps out 24.5 Bhp of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 21.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is refined and gets a slipper clutch as standard.
The Pulsar N250 Street naked variant, on the other hand, uses the same chassis and engine. The 249.07cc unit produces the same amount of power and torque. The missing semi-fairing means that the N250 is almost 2 kilograms lighter than the semi faired F250.
Pulsar F250 Vs Pulsar N250 Drag Race
Round 1
Both the Pulsar 250 variants are powered by a 249cc, air-oil cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 24 bhp of peak power and 21 Nm of torque
In round 1 of the first attempt, we notice that both the riders get a perfect launch. The N250 manages to accelerate quickly than its rival and stays ahead of the F250 throughout the race. The N250 is the clear winner here in the first drag race attempt.
They even conducted a second round to keep things fair. The N250 accelerates quicker than the F250 again and wins even the second round without breaking a sweat.
Round 2
In round one of the second drag race attempt, the riders swap their motorcycles to keep things fair. Surprisingly! In the second attempt, the F250 rider had a better launch and stayed ahead of the N250 throughout the race. The F250 even managed to win round 1 of the second attempt.
In round 2, the F250 once again beats the N250 and took the first spot.
Conclusion
Both the N250 and the F250 offer identical performance and there really isn’t a clear winner here. The Pulsar N250 has the better initial pickup which is down to its lighter weight, however, the F250 has a better mid and top range. The semi fairing offers an advantage to the rider at triple-digit speeds providing protection from windblast.
