Drag Race: Ola S1 vs S1 Pro
Electric vehicle manufacturing has advanced in terms of production and technology. It is quite evident from the different range of EVs that are available for sale in the electric two and four-wheeler market in India. However, the advancements are quite subtle to be noticed from the bare structure of the vehicle alone as they are mostly in terms of performance and integrated gizmos that need to be used by a person to experience them.
The video has been presented by a YouTube channel that goes by the name ‘JLSwakanda’
The aforementioned is the case when it comes to India’s much-awaited and most popular electric scooter, the Ola S1 and S1 Pro. In this regard, people find it amusing to see its performance delivery and loaded technology first hand, however, those who have not got the chance to experience might find opinions regarding the e-scooter as biased since they come with somewhat similar specifications.
Hence, to clear the doubts of many regarding its performance delivery, which is important, we present to you a drag race video created by a YouTube channel ‘JLSwakanda’ that tests, the power of an Ola S1 and S1 Pro, well by using two S1 Pros by engaging one in Hyper and Other in Sport mode. Without much delay, let’s get to the details:
Ola S1 Pro vs Ola S1
Before we begin, let’s look at the powertrain and its specifications:
Ola S1:
It comes with a Mid-drive IPM 8500 W motor that produced a riding range of 121km/charge. The motor and Lithium-Ion battery pack setup helps the rider to achieve speeds of up to 90kmph which is impressive.
Ola S1 Pro:
The Ola S1 Pro also comes equipped with a Mid-drive IPM 8500 W motor that presents a riding range of 181km/charge. Although the motor of the two vehicles is the same, the S1 Pro produces a top speed of 115 Kmph.
Now, that we have seen the identical specs of the two e-scooters, its time to see which one is better in terms of performance:
The Race
Despite the results, the two riders swap the scooters to see if the results were not affected by the rider’s skill and riding style
The drag race begins with one S1 Pro engaged in Hyper mode and the other in Sport mode to mimic the performance delivery of the Ola S1. The two riders prep the vehicles and position the scooters at the starting line. By honking three times, it was time for them to open the throttle. The Ola S1 Pro engaged in the Hyper mode wins the first round without any hesitance beating the S1 Pro engaged in Sport mode, proving that there was a difference in power delivery.
Further, three rounds were conducted to see which scooter performs the best although, on paper, the S1 Pro has an upper hand
Next, they swap the e-scooters to check if there was no rider error that caused the S1 Pro engaged in hyper mode to win the battle. As expected, the S1 pro in the Hyper mode yet again claims victory in the second round, thanks to the better power delivery.
Thus, it has been proved that although the S1 and S1 pro have the same powertrain, the two vehicles present different characteristics in terms of performance.
