Kia Carens is one of the awaited 7-seater MPVs in India. Well, the wait is finally over as Kia Motors unveiled the car for the Indian market. Let’s take a closer look.
A Bold New Design
Talking about the design, the Kia Carens boasts a modern-SUV styling with an aggressive stance. At the front, the Carens gets a slim Tiger nose grille, split headlamps with the Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps, and a modern and aggressive look. Viewed from the Carens also feature prominent wheel arches, chrome garnish, and a prominent shoulder line.
At the rear, the crossover gets LED tail lamps which are connected by a slim LED strip. Along with this, the car also features an integrated spoiler, a sharp bumper, and an upright tailgate. It also boasts a class-leading wheelbase and measures 4540mm in length, 1800mm in width, and 1700mm in height, thus hinting towards a spacious interior.
How Good Is The Cabin?
Another feature from the Koreans that’s particularly popular is the ventilated seats, that now make their way into the Carens as well
The Carens is available in both six and seven-seat configurations and will be a great choice for buyers looking for spacious and comfortable MPV for their families. Inside, the Caren gets a feature-loaded cabin with an impressive build quality and top-notch fit and finish levels.
You also get a 10.25-inch infotainment screen on the higher variants while the lower variants get an 8.0-inch screen. Apart from this, features like auto-climate control, wireless charging, and a large sunroof while the music system comprises an 8-speaker premium Bose speaker setup.
Step inside, the car boasts a long list of features as you’d find on any Kia/Hyundai product. You get automatic climate control and a large touchscreen system
On the safety front, the Kia Carens boast features like six airbags as standard and a number of safety techs like Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Brake Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and All-Wheel Disc brakes. That car can also be equipped with optional Driver Assistance tech with a Hi-Secure safety package as well.
How Powerful Is The Carens?
The side profile is largely dominated by dual-tone alloy wheels and prominent shoulder line
The Kia Carens will be available with three engine options including a turbocharged petrol motor. The first engine is a 1.5-L NA petrol motor that produces 115hp of max power and 144Nm of net torque.
The second unit is a 1.4-L turbo petrol engine churning out maximum power and torque output of 140hp and 242 Nm respectively. The 1.5-L oil-burner on the other hand delivers 115hp of and 250 Nm of peak torque. All three engines will be available with manual as well as automatic transmission options, hence making it a practical choice for many.
When Can I Buy One?

The Kia Carens will launch in India in the first half of 2022 and will rival the cars like the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari. The starting price of the Kia Carens is expected to be RS 12-14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
