Did the 2 additional valves make a difference to the overall performance of the new Xpulse 200 4V? Let’s find out
Hero Motocorp has finally updated their entry-level ADV Xpulse 200 4V in India. The new bike features a 4-valve setup that offers slightly more power than the older Xpulse 200 and promises a more relaxed and stress-free experience. Besides the changes to the engine, the updated motorcycle also gets a toothed brake pedal for better grip on rough terrain.
Here is a drag race video between the newly introduced Hero Xpulse 200 4V and the old Xpulse 200. This video will give us an idea of whether the inclusion of 2 additional valves has made any difference or not on the top-end performance of this budget adventure tourer.
The Contenders
The Xpulse 200 4V features a 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a 4-valve setup. This unit produces about 19.1 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 17.35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The motorcycle is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

The old Xpulse 200 2V, on the other hand, is powered by the same 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled 2-Valve engine that produces a slightly lower 18.08 PS of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 16.45 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. This unit is also paired to the same 5-speed gearbox.
The new 4-valve setup in the Xpulse 200 4V variant has helped increase the power and torque figures by 6% and 5% respectively.
Xpulse 200 4V VS Xpulse 200 2V: Drag Race
Although the Xpulse 2V offers better initial performance the 4V offers more power and torque and it soon catches up
Both the riders get a perfect launch. The Xpulse 200 2V offers better initial performance than the 4V. It gets ahead of its rival towards the beginning of the race. But the addition of two extra valves has helped improve the top-end performance of the Xpulse 200 4V. The new Xpulse overtook the slightly lower-powered 2V at the end and won the drag race.
Conclusion
To sum it up, the additional two valves haven’t made a world of difference, but the Xpulse 200 4V offers a slightly better top-end performance and top speed than the old model.
The Xpulse 2V has a better initial performance which was noticeable towards the beginning of this drag race. The updated Xpulse also offers a marginally better top speed.
