Ethan Hunt is helping Abarth make EVs look cool.
Stellantis launched a marketing campaign featuring the Abarth 500e to prove that EVs are now better than ever. Driven by the “Mission Possible” concept, the ad featuring the Abarth 500e is promoted alongside the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One movie, starring Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell.
The new Mission Impossible movie, featuring other exciting cars, will be in theaters on July 12. It is shaping up to be action-packed, featuring thrilling car chases, stunts, and climatic explosions – elements already synonymous with the movie franchise.
In fact, Tom Cruise drifted through the cobblestone streets of Rome in a classic Fiat 500. To make it more interesting, he did this one-handed as his other hand was handcuffed to his co-star.
The thrill and excitement from the Mission: Impossible movie scenes are what Abarth is banking on in promoting its first all-electric hot hatch. The Italian brand wants to highlight that the Abarth 500e can deliver the same thrill and excitement as its former gas-powered pocket rockets.
The Abarth 500e has a 42 kWh battery and an electric motor that generates 152 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque, slightly more than the standard Fiat 500e. Abarth says the 500e can go from zero to 62 mph in seven seconds and has three drive modes: Turismo, Scorpion Street, and Scorpion Track.
The Turismo mode is designed to give smoother acceleration and lower power output, yielding a maximum power of 110 hp instead of the standard 115 hp, while torque's limited to 162 lb-ft instead of 173.

The Scorpion Street driving mode offers the default power output rating of the Abarth 500e while utilizing regenerative braking. Meanwhile, the Scorpion Track mode is designed to deliver maximum performance without any braking interference.
No official figures have been released regarding the electric driving range. But, it did share that the EV can be charged to 80% in 35 minutes using 85 kW fast charging.
The Abarth 500e also comes with a series of guitar sounds called the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System. A strumming guitar sound will be heard when the EV goes above 12 mph. It also comes with a Sound Generator, which reproduces the sound of an Abarth equipped with a gas engine.
