Alex Guerra is a rockstar touring the world with his band Legado 7.
After bringing us the epic story of the Big Red Camaro, AutotopiaLA visits Socal Classic Car Storage to peek at Alex Guerra's 1965 Ford Mustang. Alex is a rockstar, touring the world with his band Legado 7, and his Mustang reflects his persona.
Its custom “Mexican Blue” paint job, reminiscent of classic Porsche colors, instantly captures attention. The car boasts a 5.8-liter Ford 351 Cleveland V8 engine, which is bored-out to a 408 cubic inch motor delivering 600 horsepower. To stand out from the Mustang resto-mod crowd, Alex deliberately avoided using an LS or Coyote engine, opting for the current build. Additionally, the car is equipped with a nine-inch Ford rear end for enhanced durability.
The suspension has a TCI front end with control arms at front, while the rear end has a custom four-link suspension for improved handling and stability. It rides on 20-inch Raceline wheels with 225-section tires in the front and 345s in the rear, giving it a more aggressive appearance. Wilwood brakes offer exceptional stopping power, featuring six-piston calipers in the front and four-pistons in the rear.
The Mustang's exterior underwent extensive customization. The body was fitted with unique flares, garnering mixed opinions but adding a distinctive touch. The metalwork, carried out by Backyard Specialties, included integrating functional elements such as heat-shrunk exhaust tips and a sleek rear spoiler. Alex was inspired by the Mustang of the late Ken Block and wanted to replicate the bodywork but add his flavor to it.

Stepping inside the Mustang reveals a wholly modernized interior. California Upholstery transformed the cabin, utilizing seats from a 2016 Mustang that were custom cut and trimmed to fit. The dashboard features a digital instrument cluster, providing a contemporary feel while retaining the essence of the original '65 model.
During the drive, Shawn from AutotopiaLA couldn't help but marvel at the proper balance and handling of the vehicle. It sounded great, but the suspension and steering was his highlight. Alex has everything going for him as a musician, and it's easy to throw money at a build and call it a day, but it takes mindful engineering to create as close enough to a tasteful masterpiece as his Legado7 Mustang.
