This VW Beetle is arriving at this year's Monterey Car Week.
The Volkswagen Beetle may be a masterpiece, but it won't return to the market after discontinuation. Even a possible EV revival was immediately shut off by VW CEO Thomas Schafer. The closest to new we could get is a restored build, and one tasteful project is coming at this year's Monterey Car Week.
Monterey-based Mohr Imports are selling the restored 1956 VW Deluxe Sedan. Not many details were disclosed aside from the 15,410 mileage on the odometer. But Mohr Imports gave us a walk-around tour, and the vehicle looks immaculate inside and out.
Exterior-wise, Mohr Imports' Beetle comes with a diamond green paint. Most accents, including the front bumper, are finished in chrome, providing a posher-looking finish. The build also has subtle design cues that speak attention to detail, including the mesh cover on the round headlamps and diamond green accents in the whitewall tires.
A few exterior bits help separate this particular Beetle from the regular model. The roof is installed with an orange-shaded sunvisor on top of the windshield and a massive removable sunroof. Meanwhile, the side profile has large wheel fenders, including closed-off fenders for the rear wheels.
The green motif continues inside. But the front and rear seats are finished in a darker shade with white trimmings. Interior bits such as the steering wheel, shifter for the manual gearbox, and the handbrake are also in white, reflecting a design continuation from the whitewall tires outside the vehicle. For a cozier ambiance, hard-cushioned pillows are placed on each end of the rear seats.
The 2023 Monterey Car Week will be from August 11 to 20, 2023. It is free of admission, so consider dropping by to see this restored VW Beetle in the metal. Various interesting cars, including six-time NBA champ Michael Jordan's Venom F5 Roadster, will likewise join the fun.
