The car's model year coincides with Rodman's first NBA championship.
A 1989 Ford Mustang Saleen SSC that NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman once owned is up for grabs via online auction at Bring a Trailer. The car's model year coincides with Rodman's first NBA championship, which he won with the Detroit Pistons in 1989. Known for his defensive and rebounding prowess, Rodman also won three NBA chips with the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan. He's starred in some Hollywood movies, too, and is known for his controversial antics on and off the court.
The Mustang Saleen in question is finished in Oxford White with gray trimmings, partnered with 16-inch wheels in white. A 5.0-liter V8 engine powers it, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It currently has 87,000 miles on the odometer and is offered with production and service records.

Saleen Automotive, a 40-year-old tuning company, is known for building high-performance Ford Mustang vehicles. The 1989 Ford Mustang Saleen SSC was once the most powerful Mustang at its prime since its tuned 5.0-liter V8 engine could deliver about 300 horsepower – far off from the current output of the Mustang Dark Horse.
The car features black and yellow graphics and a Saleen decal on the windshield. It also features Saleen body parts, as seen on the modified rear spoiler, front air dam, side skirts, and rear valance. It wears 225/50 Nitto 420 and Kumho Ecsta tires, while stopping power is provided by disc brakes on all four corners.

The car has a Racecraft suspension and power rack-and-pinion steering. Bilstein dampers are also installed in the vehicle with an additional suspension brace, while the removed suspension components are included in the sale.
Inside, it has adjustable bucket seats upholstered in gray and white leather, a three-spoke steering wheel, a 10-speaker sound system, a Pioneer CD stereo, an equalizer, air conditioning, cruise control, a four-point roll bar, and power windows and door locks. There's also a Steve Saleen (founder of Saleen Automotive) signature on the right side of the dashboard.
The special Ford Mustang currently has four bids, with the highest amounting to $35,000. The online bidding will be live for three more days as of this writing.
