Alpine has released a new special edition of its gorgeous Porsche 718 Cayman rival. It's called the A110 San Remo 73, and it's a celebration of the automaker's victory at the San Remo rally – and its first manufacturer's title – 50 years ago.
Powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine with 300 horsepower, the San Remo is inspired by the victor of the rally it's named after. As such, it sports a striking Caddy Blue exterior, black roof arches, and a red carbon fiber roof. The limited edition also wears graphics inspired by the 1973 model, with a black and white livery on the hood, doors, and rear fascia.
A set of stylish 18-inch Grand Prix wheels finished in Brilliant Blanc completes the package, along with Anthracite Brembo brake calipers and black body detailing.
Inside, the sporting theme continues. Sabelt Racing one-piece bucket seats dominate the cozy cabin and can be fitted with a six-point racing harness. Swathes of microfiber can be found on almost every surface, enlivened by understated grey stitching.
Echoing the exterior are the door panels, which also wear fun black and white stripes. Other neat touches include the sport pedals, an aluminum passenger footrest, and “World Champion 73” embroidery on the seats.
The changes aren't just aesthetic, though. Alpine has also fitted the San Remo 73 with high-performance brakes and an active sports exhaust. While it's inspired by a rally car, the interior is far from spartan. It features a Focal Audio sound system, front and rear parking assistance, a backup camera, and Alpine Telemetrics.
Like the regular model, we don't expect this special edition to come to America – although that may change soon.
Just 200 units will be made for global consumption and priced at €89,000 (approximately $94,775), it remains the reserve of wealthy enthusiasts. In France, would-be buyers can place an order through the Alpine network from March 17. We don't expect them to hang around for long with so few examples available.
This isn't the only Alpine special edition to be revealed in recent months. In October, the French brand revealed the A110 R Fernando Alonso, which is rarer still. Only 32 units were produced as a tribute to Fernando Alonso, who left the Alpine F1 team a month before the vehicle was revealed.
Not long before that, the Renault-owned brand introduced the A110 Tour de Corse 75, a tribute to the original A110 that came close to winning the French rally.
