Limited to 150 units, it comes with a few very unique features.
Mercedes has unveiled the highly-limited EQS 580 4Matic Sedan City Edition. This model, which will only be launched in Southern California, is limited to just 150 units and boasts unique charging and mobility features like access to a free home charger, expanded credit for public charging, and even a year subscription to an electric scooter service.
Each vehicle will have unique design details, and every unit sold will benefit a local California chapter of Safe Kids Worldwide. The model seems like a continuation of the company's sustainability goals moving forward, trying out new things to attract customers to the electric revolution.

The City Edition will receive model-specific badging on the exterior of the car and the center console. This unique badge features the outline of California and indicates that the vehicle is one of 150.
It's available in two designs. The first is a Manufaktur design (the Mercedes-Benz custom design division) with Diamond White Metallic paint with Macchiato Beige and Space Grey Leather. The second selection is finished in Twilight Blue Metallic paint with Neva Grey and Sable Brown leather. Both feature Natural Grain Yacht-design Walnut Wood trim and AMG wheels.
Interestingly, the car also comes standard with Energizing Air Control Plus with HEPA filtration. This $450 option uses a three-stage air filtration system to remove 99% of particulate pollution in the air. It's an excellent addition for the less-than-stellar air quality in SoCal.

Mercedes already offers two-year unlimited 30-minute free charging sessions on Electrify America's DC network, but with the City Edition, a $250 credit is added to Mercedes me Charge for use at ChargePoint public chargers. These features will become moot once Merc gets its own charging network up and running before the end of 2023.
Mercedes also partnered with ChargePoint to provide a promo code for a free ChargePoint Home Flex charger for all City Edition owners, including up to $1,000 for the installation. Qmerit concierge is also included to help the customer through the installation process.
This seems like an odd feature, as the average EQS customer doesn't strike us as the kind of person who can't afford a home charger, and needs to finance it via the bank.

Mercedes-Benz also gives buyers a one-year all-access subscription to the Unagi Model One Voyager electric scooter. The model has up to 25 miles of range, and the subscription includes insurance, maintenance, and the scooter in the owner's choice of color. The Voyager retails for $1,190, and considering the car's price, it feels like Mercedes could have chucked it in for free instead of just lending one out for a year.
There's no word on how much the vehicle will cost, but seeing as the EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan starts at $125,950, we imagine the exclusivity will push that price up by a significant margin. People also tend to part with their money easier when a charity is involved.
The EQS 580 4Matic Sedan City Edition has some intelligent additions and could lure more buyers into showrooms, leading to more limited-edition city models in the future.
